» » » 'Very, very good for Postecoglou': Tottenham backed to sign 23-goal speedster

Julien Laurens has backed new Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou to secure the transfer of Celtic’s, Kyogo Furuhashi.

Simply known as Kyogo, the Japanese star has been one of the standout stories under the reign of Ange Postecoglou at Celtic.

Just like his old manager, Kyogo arrived as this unknown figure as he was plucked from the J League, as he has gone on to tear it up in the Scottish Premiership, with European football expert Laurens adding that he would be a ‘very, very good’ signing for Tottenham, as he told ESPN.

Over the course of the season, as the Bhoys secured the treble, their livewire up front has scored 34 goals from 50 games in all competitions, including 23 from 31 league games.

With Postecoglou trying to now get warm in his new seat at Spurs, one big issue already facing him is that the club has no sporting director.

As a result, it makes life difficult in the transfer market, so how about pushing for players he already knows, which was touched upon by Laurens.

“Let’s not forget that Spurs don’t have a sporting director,” said Laurens. “It’s difficult also to plan when you have a new manager like Postecoglou coming in with his own philosophy, some players that he might want.

“Maybe go back to Celtic and get somebody like Kyogo, for example, who is very, very good for him.”

Kyogo would be a smart buy

Celtic fans won’t like it, in fact, they are probably accepting it, but a player like Kyogo would be a smart purchase by the club.

In terms of a transfer fee, because you are dealing with a Scottish team, then they wouldn’t demand inflated amounts like English Premier League teams.

Plus, Postecoglou knows his game inside out, he wants to change the club’s style of play to a front-foot nature and add energy to the forward line. All boxes which Kyogo ticks.
