Boxing promoter Edde Hearn has told James Maddison to ‘smash it’ as he begins a new chapter in his career at Tottenham Hotspur.
Following Leicester City’s relegation to the Premier League, it was clear that their star playmaker was going to head for the exit door this summer.
And it was Tottenham who nabbed James Maddison’s talents, as he posted on Instagram on Sunday, ‘new home’, with a picture of the 26-year-old at the club’s stadium.
This is a big move for, both Maddison and Spurs, because he is at a crucial stage of his career, whilst the London side have been crying out for a player of his talents.
For a number of years now, Spurs fans have called for a playmaker to be added to their midfield, and finally, they have got their wish.
It could even be argued that it’s a pretty good deal at £40 million for the £170k-a-week star (Telegraph), who would have fetched more had Leicester not dropped down to the Championship, as Hearn sent the following message in the comments section of the player’s IG post.
‘Congrats mate,” wrote Hearn. “Smash it.”

The last time an attack-minded Spurs coach worked with a playmaker at the club, their names were Christian Eriksen and Mauricio Pochettino.
Whilst that ship has long sailed, the fans will be hoping that they can go down a similar route, because if they do, then it will only bring positive vibes to the club.
Given that Tottenham aren’t in Europe, then the lack of midweek games should benefit the team and enhance their chances of finishing as high up as possible in the Premier League table.
