Instagram users have taken to other social media platforms like Twitter to complain about not being able to delete direct messages. The chats feature on the platform appears to be facing some issues, and users are far from happy.
Instagram messages are ‘not deleting’ for some users
DMs on Instagram appear to be facing a glitch as many users aren’t able to delete the messages from their chats.
When you select a certain chat and tap on the delete option, the app isn’t getting rid of the messages for a lot of users. The chats are still visible in the inbox.
Instagram hasn’t addressed the issue at the time of writing, and as the same issue has occurred previously, it is possibly a temporary glitch.
The users are annoyed, nevertheless, because they simply don’t want to keep certain conversations intact in their DMs.

Other issues such as an interrupted Internet connection or uncleared cache are some of the common and possible reasons for not being able to get rid of the messages.
Make sure the Instagram app on your device is updated to its latest version because if an update is due, certain options stop working.
You can turn your phone off, back on, and then try deleting the messages, or log out from the app and log in again.
