Following the conclusion of The Summer I Turned Pretty’s second season, fans are turning their attention to book 3 and what its ending will mean for Belly, Jeremiah and Conrad.

*WARNING: Spoilers ahead for The Summer I Turned Pretty* — Season 2 of The Summer I Turned Pretty has come to an end on Prime Video but fans will be delighted to learn that a third season has been confirmed which will be adapting We’ll Always Have Summer, the third novel in Jenny Han’s trilogy.

The Summer I Turned Pretty season 2 ending explained

Belly is placed in an incredibly awkward position in the final episode of season 2 as she is forced to choose between her love interests, Conrad and Jeremiah.

Despite Conrad apologizing to Belly after emotionally distancing himself from her earlier in the season, she ends up deciding against getting back with him and chooses his brother Jeremiah instead.

Elsewhere, Steven and Taylor reaffirm their feelings for one another before reuniting with Belly and Jeremiah ahead of the upcoming summer volleyball camp.

Belly humbly apologizes to Coach Shaw for her lack of commitment to the team earlier in the season and convinces her to let her play and we see her enjoying her first game back as the season ends with Jeremiah cheering for her. But a quick cutaway to Cousin’s Beach shows Conrad leaving out the Junior Mint polar bear plush for Belly, suggesting that he’s not ready to give up on her just yet.

The Summer I Turned Pretty book 3 summary

When the third book in the series begins, Belly is just finishing her freshman year at college and has been dating Jeremiah for almost two years.

Their relationship hasn’t all been plain sailing, however, as Jeremiah slept with another girl named Lacie during spring break after he and Belly had temporarily broken up following a fight.

Jeremiah believed their split was permanent while Belly felt that they were just on a break while the dust settled.

Belly breaks things off with Jeremiah after he admitted to cheating on her but several days later, he returns for a heart-to-heart where he tells her that she’s the only girl for him and he pulls out a ring and proposes.

She agrees to Jere’s proposal but has doubts as she still harbors feelings for his brother, Conrad.

Who does Belly end up in The Summer I Turned Pretty book 3?

Belly eventually gets together with Conrad by the end of We’ll Always Have Summer.

When Jeremiah and Belly tell their families about their proposed wedding, the reaction is one of astonishment and anger. So much so that Belly and her mother Laurel get into a huge argument that ends with Belly moving out and staying at the beach house.

Matters are complicated as Conrad is also staying there and he is surprisingly supportive of her and helps her with several wedding planning activities and even convinces her mother to repair their relationship.

Conrad eventually learns that Jeremiah cheated on Belly which enrages him and causes him to plead with Belly not to go through with the wedding and he and Jeremiah even come to blows when arguing about it on the day of the wedding.

When Jeremiah arrives late at the wedding, he finally admits to Belly that he’s not fully content with their relationship as he feels that she will never completely love him due to her lingering affection for Conrad, leading them to cancel the wedding.

Several years later, as Belly approaches her 24th birthday, she reconnects with Conrad after he had written her a series of letters while she had spent a year away in Spain.

The letters reignite the relationship they ended years earlier which results in them getting married themselves and going on to live happily ever after. The End.
