Mohamed Salah reacts to Tottenham Hotspur vs Liverpool controversy

Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool suffered a narrow defeat to Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham Hotspur at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday evening.

Liverpool went down 2-1 to Tottenham Hotspur in North London in the Premier League.

An own goal from Joel Matip in the sixth minute of injury time secured the points for Spurs.

Liverpool ended the game with nine men.

As you would expect in most Premier League games these days, there were referring and VAR controversies.

Luis Diaz controversy during Tottenham Hotspur vs Liverpool

One incident that Liverpool fans will be very displeased with is the ‘goal’ from Luis Diaz that was chalked off.

Diaz thought that he had scored the opening goal of the match for Liverpool.

The Colombia international winger was adjudged to be in an offside position, though.

The problem was that officials quickly ruled Diaz’s goal offside without showing the customary offside line graphics.

PGMOL has since released a statement admitting that it was human error, adding that the goal should have stood.

Mohamed Salah reacts

Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah has made his opinion on the matter clear.

As you can see below, the Egyptian forward has ‘liked’ a post in which the analysts make it clear that Diaz’s goal should have stood.

I understand that mistakes happen.

Everyone makes mistakes.

However, this was a major blunder.

And, it could have been avoided.

The VAR officials should have taken their time.

There was no need to rush into making a decision.

We know that some decisions take a lot of time.

VAR is there to help the on-field officials and make the right decisions.

’Miraculous’: 22-year-old winger Tottenham Hotspur got rid of is ‘unplayable’ now

Jack Clarke could not make a massive impact at Tottenham Hotspur following his move from Leeds United, but the winger is flourishing at Sunderland now.

Tottenham Hotspur spent as much as £8.5 million in transfer fees on Jack Clarke when they got a deal done with Leeds United in the summer of 2019.

Clarke was 18 at the time.

Sunderland winger Jack Clarke struggled at Tottenham Hotspur

The winger had made only a handful of matches for the Leeds first team when Spurs signed him.

Clarke was expected to be a star at Tottenham, but the winger failed to do much of note at the North London club.

After loan spells at Leeds, Queens Park Rangers, Stoke City and Sunderland, the winger moved to the Black Cats on a permanent contract in 2022.

And, he is flourishing at Sunderland at the moment.

Jack Clarke a star at Sunderland now

The English youngster is becoming a goal machine now.

Clarke has scored seven goals in nine Championship matches so far this season.

The Sunderland no. 20 scored nine goals and gave 12 assists in the Championship last season.

Clarke’s latest goals came in Sunderland’s 3-0 victory over Sheffield Wednesday away from home in the Championship on Friday evening.

The 22-year-old scored in the eighth minute and then from the penalty spot on 31 minutes.

Clarke is now the top scorer in the Championship at the moment with seven goals.

Sunderland manager Tony Mowbray raved about Clarke after the match.

ChronicleLive quotes Mowbray as saying about Clarke: “He’s an amazing footballer, he’s really positive, really confident at the moment.

“When I think back to being manager of Blackburn Rovers two-and-a-half years ago and Jack Clarke playing for Tottenham U23s and not getting a kick against our young team, something miraculous has happened to Jack and he is now playing with confidence and belief in himself.

“At times he is unplayable, you don’t know whether he is going down the outside or whether he is cutting inside to bend it in like he did for the first goal.”

‘Different’: Unai Emery admits how Brighton can ‘teach’ Aston Villa a lesson at Villa Park

Unai Emery admits Brighton & Hove Albion can ‘teach’ Aston Villa a lesson when the Seagulls visit Villa Park. He likes the ‘different’ styles Roberto De Zerbi has embraced.

The Villans play host to the Amex Stadium natives in the Premier League in Saturday’s 12:30 kick-off slot. It pits two teams with similar goals and similar starts to the season against each other. Emery’s Aston Villa and De Zerbi’s Brighton are both in the hunt to qualify for Europe.

De Zerbi led the Seagulls into Europe for the first time in the club’s history last season with a spot in the Europa League. While Emery turned Aston Villa’s fortunes around to claim a spot in the Conference League. He brought UEFA nights back to Villa for the first time since 2011.

Emery admits Brighton can ‘teach’ Aston Villa a lesson

Brighton have now started this season strongly to be third in the Premier League table after six games. Aston Villa are three points behind the Seagulls in sixth place ahead of hosting De Zerbi’s side. And Emery admits his team can learn from how the Italian has Brighton playing.

“I always try to watch the teams we are going to face,” he said, via The Guardian. “But when there are some teams that are especially different that can maybe teach us different tactical ideas I really focus on them, and one of those is Brighton.

“As coaches, we want to add something if we can be better. I like to analyse every team we are facing and then try to add, especially [from] teams that are doing something different at set pieces, tactically, offensively or defensively.

“The most difficult way is to build, to create a style keeping possession, trying to avoid the opponents’ pressing and I appreciate a lot those teams and their coaches.

“The most important one is maybe [Pep] Guardiola and now De Zerbi, as well, has been a little bit different and very, very successful.”

The Villans are unbeaten in five against the Seagulls

Brighton have been sensational so far this season and have scored more goals (18) than any other club – Aston Villa have scored 12. The Seagulls also boast a superior defensive record to the Villans with eight goals allowed to 10. Their efforts have led to five wins and one loss.

A trip to Aston Villa may present Brighton with a firm test on Saturday, though. Emery’s side have only conceded one goal in their two matches at Villa Park so far. But 15 of the Seagulls’ league-high goal tally have been from open play. So, they will fancy their chances of scoring.

It speaks volumes for Emery as a manager that he still wants Aston Villa to learn from teams like De Zerbi’s Brighton, too. The Villans did the double over the Seagulls last season and are unbeaten in their past five Premier League games. Aston Villa won 2-1 both times last term.

‘Unbelievable’: Clinton Morrison says ‘outstanding’ 22-year-old player going to be big for Liverpool

Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool are back challenging Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City for the Premier League title, and one of the best players for the Reds so far this season has been Dominik Szoboszlai.

Liverpool are second in the Premier League table at the moment with 16 points from six matches.

The Merseyside club are only two points behind leaders and defending champions Manchester City.

Liverpool did not even end up in the top four of the Premier League table last season.

But, the Reds are now very much in the title race.

Praise for Liverpool midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai

One of the big reasons why Liverpool are doing so well is the form and performance of Dominik Szoboszlai.

The 22-year-old Hungary international attacking midfielder has scored one goal in six Premier League matches for Liverpool.

The youngster has also scored one goal in one substitute appearance in the Carabao Cup for Jurgen Klopp’s side so far this campaign.

Szoboszlai moved to Liverpool from RB Leipzig in the summer transfer window.

Former Crystal Palace forward Clinton Morrison has been hugely impressed by Szoboszlai and has backed him to be a star for Liverpool for years to come.

Morrison said about Szoboszlai on Optus Sport: “Unbelievable.

“He has been outstanding. He is going to be a big player for many years.”

Dominik Szoboszlai a brilliant signing for Liverpool

In my view, Dominik Szoboszlai has been a brilliant signing for Liverpool.

The attacking midfielder is very good on the ball, works hard, is very dynamic, and scores goals.

There have been comparisons made with former Liverpool and England international midfielder Steven Gerrard.

While those comparisons may be premature now, Szoboszlai certainly has the potential to be a superstar for Liverpool in the coming years.

After all, he is just 22 now.

‘Adds efficiency’: Kevin Campbell says people absolutely wrong about 24-year-old Arsenal player

Kai Havertz joined Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal from Mauricio Pochettino’s Chelsea in the summer transfer window.

Arsenal paid £65 million in transfer fees to Chelsea for Kai Havertz.

It was a lot of money.

Arsenal are also paying Havertz £280,000 per week as salary (Spotrac).

So, the pressure is on the 24-year-old to deliver.

It just has not happened for Havertz at Arsenal yet.

Kai Havertz
Photo by Stuart MacFarlane/Arsenal FC via Getty Images

Havertz has made four starts and two substitute appearances in the Premier League for the Gunners so far this season.

The Arsenal no. 29 has made one appearance in the UEFA Champions League and has played once in the League Cup.

Havertz has not scored a goal or provided an assist.

Kevin Campbell on Arsenal forward Kai Havertz

Former Arsenal striker and BBC Sport pundit Kevin Campbell has given his take on the situation of Havertz.

The pundit has noted that people are wrong about Havertz, saying that the Germany international forward adds efficiency to the Arsenal team.

Campbell said about Havertz on BBC Radio 5 Live: “For me, he is lacking confidence.

“For any player who is lacking confidence, he is going to have bits missing out of their game. That’s just the way it is.

“The fact of the matter is this. Kai Havertz actually adds efficiency to Arsenal that a lot of people won’t give him credit for because as far as people are concerned, he cost £65 million and what he should be scoring five to 10 goals a week.

“It doesn’t work like that.”

Arsenal fans should have faith in Kai Havertz

In my view, Arsenal fans should have faith in Kai Havertz.

Just because it has not worked out for the Germany international in the opening weeks of the season does not mean that the forward is doomed at Arsenal.

I am confident that Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta will get the best out of Havertz.

Just look at what Arteta has done with Martin Odegaard.

Odegaard did not have the best of times at Real Madrid, but the Norway international attacking midfielder is now one of the best playmakers in the Premier League.

‘Make them stronger’: Pundit tells Liverpool to raid Manchester City for £150,000-a-week player

Kalvin Phillips has struggled to make an impact at Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City since joining from Leeds United, and Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool are now being urged to make a move for the England international midfielder.

According to talkSPORT pundit Darren Bent, Liverpool should try to sign Kalvin Phillips from Premier League rivals Manchester City.

The former Tottenham Hotspur striker has said on talkSPORT that if Liverpool have Kalvin Phillips in their midfield, then it would help Alexis Mac Allister play his natural game.

Bent believes that Mac Allister could play in his natural position if Phillips features in the Liverpool midfield.

Mac Allister, who won the 2022 Qatar World Cup with Argentina, moved to Liverpool from Brighton and Hove Albion in the summer transfer window.

Liverpool urged to sign Kalvin Phillips from Manchester City

Football Transfers has reported that City are willing to sell Phillips in the January transfer window.

Phillips made two starts and 10 substitute appearances in the Premier League for City last season.

The £150,000-a-week (Spotrac) England international has played just 45 minutes in the Premier League so far this campaign.

Kalvin Phillips
Photo by James Williamson – AMA/Getty Images

Bent said, as transcribed by RTK: “I think Kalvin Phillips would have been disciplined enough to just sit there and know his role [if Liverpool signed him].

“He’s a good player, he’s not going to make them weaker.

“He could make them stronger because Mac Allister could then move into his natural position, although I really like Curtis Jones, I think he’s doing a great job.”

Manchester City may not sell Kalvin Phillips to Liverpool

In my view, Liverpool could struggle to sign Kalvin Phillips from Manchester City.

In recent years, Liverpool have established themselves as the main challengers to City for the Premier League title.

City will know that Phillips would make Liverpool better.

So, why would the Citizens sell the 27-year-old to Liverpool and enhance the Reds’ chances of winning the title?

The Wheel of Time fans can't forgive this huge change from the books

The Wheel of Time TV series has seen Moiraine without her powers for much of season 2 which has prompted plenty of questions from fans as this completely changes her story from the books.

*WARNING: Spoilers ahead for The Wheel of Time books and series*Prime Video’s adaptation of the beloved fantasy series The Wheel of Time has made some curious changes from the books over its first two seasons with one of the most controversial being Moiraine losing her ability to channel the One Power in the season 1 finale, something which has had a huge impact on the ongoing second installment.

Moiraine’s missing powers in The Wheel of Time

In the final episode of The Wheel of Time’s first season, Moiraine and Rand had a run-in with Ishamael, the Dark One’s most loyal servant, who cut off her ability to channel the One Power, leaving her a shell of her former self.

Throughout season 2, Moiraine believes she’s been ‘stilled’ and has completely lost her connection to the One Power.

This represents a colossal change from Moiraine’s story in the books and it’s something that showrunner Rafe Judkins addressed in an interview with Entertainment Weekly after the finale had aired.

“We’ll obviously have to add story for Moiraine and Lan because they’re basically sidelined for a couple books,” he said. “But we’re not going to put Rosamund Pike on the bench.”

Essentially, this means that Moiraine losing her powers is a plot device the writers included so that the show’s headline actress could feature more prominently than she would if the story remained totally faithful to the books.

Fans of the novels can take solace from the fact that Moiraine’s power loss has not proven to be permanent. In episode 7 of the ongoing second season, it was revealed that she had been shielded by Ishamael, meaning that her connection to the One Power had only been blocked and could be restored.

In a possibly character-defining scene, Rand channeled the One Power to remove the shield from Moiraine and restored her powers at long last.

What happens to Moiraine in the books?

Unlike in The Wheel of Time TV series, Moiraine never loses her connection to the One Power.

There is a story arc that is similar to what we’ve witnessed throughout season 2 where Moiraine’s ability to channel the One Power is weakened although never cut off completely.

In the fifth book in the series, The Fires of Heaven, Moiraine sacrifices herself to stop Lanfear from taking control of Rand by tackling her through a magical doorway which transports her and the Forsaken to an unknown destination.

By the time of Knife Of Dreams, the 11th book in the series, Thom, Mat and a character TV fans are yet to meet called Noal, discover that Moiraine is, in fact, alive and is being held captive by the Finn, two species of snake-like people divided into the Aelfinn and the Eelfinn.

The trio mount a daring rescue by traveling through a gateway at the Tower of Ghenjei and they are finally able to negotiate the release of Moiraine, with a few bumps in the road along the way, of course.

Moraine’s imprisonment leaves her ability to channel weakened as the Aelfinn and Eelfin fed on her connection to the One Power during her captivity.

However, Moiraine’s abilities are bolstered once again when she takes possession of an angreal, an object that allows a channeller to draw more of the One Power than they are normally able to. This results in Moiraine developing an even stronger connection to the One Power than she had originally.

The Wheel of Time fans discuss ‘strange’ change from the books

It’s safe to say that Moiraine’s power loss in The Wheel of Time has prompted plenty of debate from fans of the TV series and books alike, with many taking to social media to offer their thoughts.

One fan on X (formerly Twitter) said: “Making my mom watch The Wheel of Time and she asked when Moiraine gets her powers back in the books and I was like ‘I don’t know cause that never happened.'”

Meanwhile, a fan over on Reddit said: “The show is totally different from the books to the point that I’m going to be calling it The Rafe of Time [after showrunner Rafe Judkins]. Trying to line up what they’re doing in the show with the books is a mistake.”

Another Reddit user said: “[Moiraine permanently losing her powers] would throw the story off by a ton compared to the books. Then again, the show has already made numerous massive changes compared to the books. However, Rosamund Pike is also their star and they’ve made her much more central to the story than she is in the books, so it doesn’t make much sense to fade her out in season 1.”

“They just don’t follow the books,” said another viewer. “I’ve come to view this story as more of a ‘what-if’ fanfic rather than an adaptation.”

This fan said: “This is a wtf change that kind of slaps readers and fans of the series in the face.”

And finally, this fan had a similar outlook to Rafe Judkins, saying: “I think it’s a replacement for her lack of story in book 2 to give her something to struggle with and deal with before getting resolved at the end to move on to what’s next.”

Season 2 of The Wheel of Time is available to stream now on Prime Video after premiering on September 1, 2023.

Report: Chelsea could really sell their 21-year-old ‘top player’

Ian Maatsen is part of the Chelsea first-team squad at the moment, but it seems that head coach Mauricio Pochettino may not have him beyond the January transfer window.

Chelsea head coach Mauricio Pochettino is not starting Ian Maatsen regularly, but the 21-year-old is getting matches.

Maatsen is a versatile player who can play as a full-back or as a winger.

Pochettino has even used the 21-year-old Dutchman on the right of a three-man attacking midfield.

The Chelsea no. 29 has made four substitute appearances in the Premier League so far this season.

Maatsen has played 35 minutes in those games.

The Dutchman has also made two appearances in the League Cup.

Chelsea could sell Ian Maatsen in January

However, Chelsea could still sell Maatsen in the January transfer window.

According to The Telegraph, Maatsen is out of contract at Chelsea at the end of the season.

The former Premier League and UEFA Champions League winners are struggling to convince the youngster to pen to paper on a new deal.

So, Chelsea could be open to selling Maatsen in the January transfer window, according to the report.

Ian Maatsen should see out his Chelsea contract

In my opinion, Chelsea youngster Ian Maatsen should see out his contract at the Blues.

I do not think that Maatsen – hailed as a “top player” by his former Coventry City boss Mark Robins, should rush into signing a new deal.

Just because Chelsea could sell him in January does not mean that the player should leave.

Ian Maatsen

What is the worst that could happen if he refuses to sign a new deal and does not leave in January?

Maatsen would not get too many chances for the Chelsea first team in the second half of the season.

It is not as if Maatsen is starting week in and week out now.

I think that the youngster has the future in his own hands now.

If Maatsen does well for Chelsea when he gets playing time, then other clubs will show interest in him.

And, as a potential free agent next summer, he would be able to pick his next club.

‘It'll depend’: Postecoglou says ‘genius’ Tottenham player could miss Liverpool match

James Maddison is one of the best playmakers in the Premier League, and Tottenham Hotspur fans must be looking forward to the attacking midfielder weaving his magic against Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool this weekend.

Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool will lock horns with each other at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the Premier League on Saturday evening.

Both Tottenham and Liverpool are doing extremely well at the moment.

While Spurs are winning matches and are on track for a top-four finish in the Premier League table, Liverpool are looking more and more like their old selves and are now genuine challengers to Manchester City for the title.

James Maddison
Photo by Jacques Feeney/Offside/Offside via Getty Images

James Maddison joined Tottenham from Leicester City in the summer transfer window and has hit the ground running at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The 26-year-old England international attacking midfielder has scored two goals and given four assists in six Premier League appearances so far this season.

Ange Postecoglou on James Maddison for Tottenham Hotspur vs Liverpool

While Spurs fans will be expecting Maddison, described as a “genius” by former Tottenham player Graham Roberts, to turn on the style against Liverpool, manager Ange Postecoglou has said that the playmaker could miss the match.

Postecoglou has also said that South Korea international forward Son Heung-min is a doubt.

The Tottenham boss said on Friday, as quoted in talkSPORT: “Madders and Sonny, they trained today, but will see how they are after training.

“Both got through everything we needed them to get through, but it’ll depend on how they pull up.”

Potential blow for Tottenham Hotspur vs Liverpool

In my view, Tottenham Hotspur could struggle to win against Liverpool if James Maddison does not start.

While Spurs have a very good team, Maddison is one of the playmakers around and is a key player in the side.

The Englishman creates chances for his teammates and is also a threat from set pieces.

Now, of course, Spurs are not a one-man team, but if Maddison does not start, then it would be hard for the North London club to pick up all three points from the match against Liverpool.

'Enormous potential': Tottenham Hotspur told they have now signed a real 'leader' for £12m

Tottenham Hotspur signing Luka Vuskovic has been hailed for having ‘enormous potential’ after securing his move to North London.

Luka Vuskovic has been praised as a leader with Tottenham Hotspur now set to benefit.

After a few weeks of rumours, Tottenham have sealed the signing of Vuskovic.

Spurs are paying £12million to bring Vuskovic to North London – but they must wait before seeing him in action.

Vuskovic is only 16 and can’t actually play for Tottenham until he turns 18, meaning we won’t see Vuskovic playing in a Spurs shirt until 2025.

Luka Vuskovic hailed over in Croatia

Spurs clearly believe that Vuskovic is going to become a star of the future; it’s not often you see 16-year-old’s sold for £12million.

Vuskovic has already been playing for Hajduk’s first team and be looks destined for stardom.

Former Hajduk player and coach Zoran Vulic has now been asked about Vuskovic having ‘worked individually’ with the young defender.

Vulic has told Sportske Novosti that he believes Tottenham will not lose anything from signing Vuskovic and only stand to gain from his arrival.

Vulic adds that Vuskovic has ‘enormous potential’ whilst praising him as a ‘leader’ even at the age of just 16.

Brother Mario – who plays for Hamburg – has similar traits but the expectation is that Luka will go much further in his career.

“Time will tell for Tottenham, but the English will not lose anything. They will only gain,” said Vulic. “God bless you, because Luka VuÅ¡ković has enormous potential, but what is even more important, he also has the head of a leader, just like his older brother Mario,” he added.

England v Croatia - U18 International Friendly

Tottenham building quite the defence for the future

Vuskovic’s arrival was exciting enough and comments like those from Vulic will only serve to increase the hype.

What’s interesting is that Tottenham really appear to be building an impressive set of centre backs for the years to come.

Summer signing Ashley Phillips is very highly-regarded, as is youth academy prospect Alfie Dorrington.

First-team centre backs Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven are only 25 and 22 respectively, so they should have their best years of them.

Add in Vuskovic down the line and Tottenham could be settled at centre back for a long time after years of chopping and changing – but it will be down to those young defenders and the Spurs coaching staff to make sure their potential doesn’t go unfulfilled.

TikTok stars caught on camera fighting in hotel hallway before cops enter the scene

TikTok stars Coco Bliss and Grace’s fight videos are still a hot topic of discussion, two weeks after their viral hotel brawl. A video of the latter threatening to sue after being pinned to the ground during the fight by the latter has emerged on social media.

American TikTok personalities Coco Bliss and Grace were making headlines for their viral New York City hotel hallway fight a couple of weeks ago. Now, various videos from their brawl have surfaced on the internet, and fans are interested in their drama more than ever. In one particular video, Grace, who took home Coco’s wig, is seen saying she’s “suing”.

Grace threatens to sue in viral fight video with Coco Bliss

Grace, who has over a million TikTok followers, is being dubbed “Karen” by fans who are deeply invested in her drama with Coco. That’s because she threatened to sue.

A clip on Twitter shows Grace gathering herself after the fight. She is dealing with her messy hair and has a slipper in her hands. She tries to hit the person holding the camera, but they say, “Don’t touch me cause I ain’t touch you.”

A disheveled Grace looks around and sassily says, “It’s alright, ’cause I am suing you,” to the person behind the camera before repeating the same to someone else standing across the hall.

Coco Bliss was arrested after the fight

While Grace has not officially filed a lawsuit against Coco yet, the latter did get arrested.

Days after the fight, photos of Coco in handcuffs and surrounded by cops surfaced online. It was unclear who called the cops on her.

While some fans think it’s Grace who did it, others think it was the hotel. Grace posted videos of cops showing up. The clips see Coco standing on the curb with her ex-boyfriend rapper iHeartMemphis.

TikTok has started picking their teams, aka Team Grace or Team Coco. However, it still remains to be seen where their beef goes next.

What happened in the Coco vs Grace video?

Coco and Grace have been at each other’s throats for a while now. The two reportedly went full WWE on each other after meeting at a NYC hotel’s elevator.

Their fight videos show Coco holding on to Grace’s hair while pinning her to the ground. The two are seen hurling expletives at each other. Grace is trying to kick Coco off of her during the tussle.

Most videos online show the fight after Coco’s wig has been ripped off her head. Her red faux hair lies on the side of the hallway.

To add insult to injury, Grace later posted a TikTok where she can be seen playing with Coco’s lock of false hair.

Weapons expert has serious 'issues' with Henry Cavill's sword fighting skills

Henry Cavill’s sword fighting skills may have won over millions of The Witcher fans but a weapons expert is not so convinced with one scene in particular.

The Witcher has won plenty of praise since it first arrived on Netflix for its bloody and almost dance-like sword fights but weapons expert Dave Rawlings, the master-at-arms at the London Longsword Academy has said he has “issues” with one of the show’s best-known fight scenes in a recent video for Insider who gathered a host of similar experts together to analyze some of the most iconic fight scenes in film and TV history.

Frowned upon: Carrying a sword on your shoulder

In the YouTube video, Dave Rawlings is tasked with reviewing the Blavekin sword fight in season 1 of The Witcher and exploring what Henry Cavill’s character Geralt of Rivia gets right and wrong.

The first area Rawlings touches upon is the way Cavill openly carries his sword in his hand and rests it on the back of his shoulder, ready to be used at a moment’s notice.

“You get this big thing in historical European martial arts, where you’re not allowed to carry a sword on your shoulder because that’s really, really frowned upon and no one would ever do it,” he began. “Except there’s actually critique in manuals saying that you shouldn’t do it, which implies people do do it.”

“So carrying the sword in your hand is a very, very good thing,” he added. “And you see this a lot, people holding the sword on their shoulder and just walking around with it, without a scabbard on necessarily, so it’s ready to use.”

The biggest issue that Rawlings has with the Blavekin fight scene is the way in which Geralt holds his sword for much of the encounter.

“I have issues with this particular fight because there’s a lot of reverse grip, with the sword being held backwards,” he said.

While it may look cool, the sword-fighting expert warned that holding the weapon in such a way would greatly reduce a fighter’s ability to defend themselves.

“It’s not a good way to use the sword,” he continued. “You sacrifice your ability to defend above very, very clearly, you have not got any reach, it’s not safe.”

Seal of approval: Cavill’s physicality and movement

Rawlings went on to end his critique of the fight by discussing a big part of how Geralt fights, in that he is very agile and often spins with his weapon to help put distance between himself and multiple foes.

“I like how he moves, I think he’s got a good organic feel to him,” he commented. “Generally, the sword is being moved in front of him which is a very, very good thing, it’s very rarely just kept behind him, so he’s closing the space off between him and his opponent with the sword.”

“One of the things I like about some of The Witcher’s fight scenes is that there is this idea of moving between the opponents,” Rawlings continued. “And you see this in things like godinho where the idea of spinning, something which people really, really quite often frown upon within the HEMA community, is very much used because you’re trying to keep opponents away from each other.”

“It’s not just about fighting ‘you’ [a singular opponent] and concentrating on moving into you, it’s about driving you back and then hitting the next person and the next person and the next person,” he said. “So these spinning moves actually become quite important and this angled, sinister straight-into-you idea goes out of the window. It’s not this focused, suddenly it’s much more wide and it’s a flurry.”

“The thing is, most of my judgment on this fight scene, is actually Henry Cavill being very, very good physically,” the sword master concluded. “And what is shown in this fight scene being probably the most disappointing fight scene in The Witcher.”

Don Hutchison says player Everton sold is now proving to be a 'bargain' at English club

Don Hutchison says ex-Everton star Anthony Gordon is now proving to be a ‘bargain’ for Newcastle United.

Last January, the Everton academy product secured a £45 million transfer (Sky Sports) to St James’ Park, with the winger initially struggling to settle in.

But it has been a different story this season, with Anthony Gordon helping Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United knock Manchester City out of the EFL Cup on Wednesday night and Don Hutchison claiming on Twitter that the 22-year-old is now a ‘bargain’.

After helping the England U21s win the European Championships in the summer, the all-action forward has now taken that form onto the Premier League stage.

From his six Premier League games, he has two goals and two assists, as well as making his Champions League debut at the San Siro.

Anthony Gordon might have left Everton in controversial circumstances, but he is now starting to find his feet in his new home.

Gordon firing for Newcastle

“Totally changed the game when he came on,” said Hutchison about Newcastle’s win over Man City. “Gordon looks like a bargain.”

Can Gordon earn an England call?

If Everton were clever enough, they would have put something in Gordon’s contract to Newcastle that allows them to get a few millions if he gets an England call-up.

Given the winger’s performances for the U21s, his early form this season and the fact that he is playing in the Champions League, then it opens that door.

And with Euro 2024 around the corner, he is one name to watch out for, in terms of making a late surge into the England senior squad.

Sex Education favorites Otis and Maeve had to break-up - and you know it

Otis and Maeve tragically break up in Sex Education season 4 and while it may be hard to accept, it simply had to happen.

*WARNING: Spoilers ahead for Sex Education season 4* — After four equally joyous and heart-wrenching seasons, Sex Education has come to an emotional conclusion as the Netflix series ended with its main couple Otis and Maeve breaking up which has left fans in floods of tears.

Otis and Maeve’s tearjerking breakup in Sex Education

Following several twists and turns in their relationship throughout Sex Education season 4, Otis and Maeve finally decide to call it quits at the end of episode 7.

After returning home earlier in the season following the tragic death of her mother and harsh comments from her teacher, Maeve finds herself at a crossroads and questioning whether she should return to America and continue studying at Wallace University or stay in Moordale with Otis.

Surprisingly, a heart-to-heart conversation with Jean Milburn provides Maeve with the inspiration she needs to persevere and follow her dreams, which leads to a painful yet inevitable conversation with Otis where she reveals her plans to head back to the States.

Maeve initially says that she and Otis can try and make their long-distance situation work but Otis realizes that he would only be holding her back and they agree to break up for good. But there will always be a strong bond between them as Maeve reveals in a letter she leaves for Otis, where she says she will always carry a part of him with her.

Why Otis and Maeve had to break up

After investing almost five years into their relationship, it’s obviously heartbreaking and a little frustrating that Otis and Maeve don’t end up together by the end of Sex Education.

But while that might be the case, the tragic reality is that they had to break up in order to allow each of them, especially Maeve, to follow their dreams.

Otis, whose passion lies in the world of sex therapy, is already fulfilling his dream and has proven he can carry out his sessions at Cavendish College without Maeve’s help and is well on his way to a career in therapy if he chooses, possibly even alongside former rival therapist O.

Plus a few more years for Otis to mature a bit wouldn’t hurt after getting into arguments with almost everyone in season 4.

Maeve on the other hand has had to claw her way out of an impossibly tough upbringing to earn her place on the Gifted and Talented Program and it would be foolish of her not to see it through to stay with Otis, especially as there is interest in her book which would allow her to fulfil her own dream of becoming a writer.

So while it may be painful to see the pair part ways in season 4, it makes total sense to allow them to go their separate ways and flourish while carrying the memories and lessons they taught each other with them.

It’s also worth remembering that Otis and Maeve are just 17 and 18 years old respectively by the end of season 4 and have their entire lives ahead of them – so who’s to say that they won’t reunite in a few years’ time when Maeve’s a bestselling author and Otis is a professional sex therapist?

Season 4 of Sex Education is available to stream now on Netflix after releasing on Thursday, September 21, 2023.

Only hardcore Star Wars fans noticed these Empire Strikes Back references in Ahsoka

Ahsoka has not shied away from referencing other elements of the Star Wars galaxy and episode 7 follows suit by including a host of Empire Strikes Back easter eggs.

*WARNING: Spoilers ahead for Ahsoka episode 7* — While the Disney+ series Andor won plenty of praise for telling a gritty human story and staying away from references to other Star Wars projects, Ahsoka has gone in the complete opposite direction and has embraced every fantastical element that Star Wars fans love. After its first episode featured several references to The Phantom Menace, episode 7 of Ahsoka includes a plethora of Empire Strikes Back-themed easter eggs fans may have missed.

Flying into an asteroid field

One of the most famous scenes in The Empire Strikes Back sees Han and Chewie pilot the Millennium Falcon into an asteroid field to help lose their Imperial pursuers, eventually taking shelter within a ‘cave’ on one of the larger space rocks to avoid detection.

The scene, which has already been referenced in Attack of the Clones, provides the basis of a neat little easter egg in the seventh episode of the Ahsoka series as the titular character shelters from chasing fighters in the rings of the planet Peridea which are made up of whale-like purrgil bones.

Ahsoka even includes a nod to the cave scene as Rosario Dawson’s character lands and powers down amidst the floating whale bones to keep out of sight.

Communicating through the Force

Sabine Wren’s Force abilities have been questionable at best so far in Ahsoka but episode 7 sees her and the titular Jedi use the mystical power to communicate, with Ahsoka using her abilities to pinpoint Sabine’s location.

This is another loving homage to The Empire Strikes Back which features the same Force power as Luke Skywalker, dangling from the underside of Cloud City, calls out to Leia who feels his presence through the Force and points Lando and Chewie in the right direction to rescue him.

Offering a hand

The third most notable nod to The Empire Strikes Back features towards the end of the episode after Ahsoka, Sabine and Ezra defeat Shin Hati. Ahsoka gives Shin the chance to surrender and holds out her left hand in the hopes she will pass over her lightsaber.

The scene is a reference to the most famous scene in all of Star Wars, if not the entirety of cinema. Moments after revealing himself to be Luke Skywalker’s father, Darth Vader holds out his own left hand and offers his son the chance to join him and rule the galaxy together.

However, in both instances, Shin and Luke decide not to surrender to their respective enemies and flee the scene – with Luke dramatically plunging to the depths of Cloud City while Shin simply runs away.

Ahsoka is streaming weekly on Disney+ until the finale arrives on October 3, 2023.
