Ian Wright has spoken highly about Yves Bissouma and how he is starting to showcase his true worth in Tottenham Hotspur colours after his struggles under Antonio Conte.
The Arsenal legend claimed that Yves Bissouma ‘looks like a different player’ under Ange Postecoglou, as he told Premier League Productions (04/09/23 at 2:35 pm).
Tottenham have made an unbeaten start to the new Premier League season, with Bissouma being at the heart of their form – Bissouma reacted to transfer news coming out of the club last night.
Last summer, Spurs signed the 27-year-old from Brighton and Hove Albion for £25 million (Sky Sports), but he just couldn’t get going under Antonio Conte.
Lack of form, Conte’s formation/tactics and injuries all played their part, as Tottenham’s season ended with the club missing out on European football.
There is hope that Postecoglou can bring that back this season, with Wright sharing his thoughts on Bissouma.

“They look like they have quality in every department,” said Wright. “Bissouma now looks like a different player. He is like the player we saw at Brighton.”
Bissouma is like a new signing
It needs to be noted that Bissouma wasn’t exactly playing week in and week out last season, even when he was fit, there were times when he was on the bench.
But now that Postecoglou has started him from the off, in a three-man midfield, with the fullback tucking in, then he feels like a new player.
In truth, it probably says more about Conte than the player because this was the Italian’s signing, just like Richarlison, yet he couldn’t get any of them going over the course of the season and it puts his work, or lack of it, that he did at Tottenham to shame.
