The Antonio Conte reign at Tottenham Hotspur is quickly being forgotten about given the start Ange Postecoglou has made.

The transformation in style of play is like night and day, but it wasn’t so long ago that the Tottenham fans were chanting Antonio Conte’s name and urging the powers that be at Hotspur Way to back him in the transfer market.

Tottenham’s past transfer links with Lautaro Martinez

Last October, as Conte was getting frustrated, there was a report that Spurs were looking to sign Inter forward Lautaro Martinez, in order to keep their then-manager ‘happy’.

Well, that very same player, after staying at Inter last season and helping them reach the Champions League final, has now been nominated for the 2023 Ballon d’Or, as posted on The Ballon d’Or’s official Twitter account.

In this current campaign, Martinez has picked up from where he left off because the 26-year-old has five goals from his opening three Serie A games, with Inter boasting a 100% start.

This comes after scoring 28 in all competitions last time out, including supplying 11 assists and scoring in the Champions League semi-finals against AC Milan.

Who will win the 2023 Ballon d’Or?

There are some stellar names on the list, with Lionel Messi and Erling Haaland possibly fighting it out for the overall prize.

In his first season in English football, Haaland not only smashed the Premier League’s all-time goals record, but he also helped Manchester City win a historic Treble.

As for Messi, already regarded as one of the greatest of all time, he produced perhaps the greatest moment of his career when he helped Argentina win the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
