Yoshihiro Togashi’s Hunter X Hunter has been on hold for a while, but it is still one of the most cherished mangas of all time. While fans await its return, there was one character whose fate might have been hinted at by the author long back.

Hunter X Hunter mangas have been waiting for Yoshihiro Togashi to make a recovery as they patiently wait for the return of the manga. Prior to health struggles, the author had done an interview in which he hinted at the end of a character. With the character becoming a fan-favorite over the years, we are sure that fans may not be prepared for its end.

Togashi has been vocal about his ideas when it comes to Hunter X Hunter, so it does not come as a surprise that he did not hesitate to comment on the fate of a particular main character who has become a fan-favorite over the years.

In the interview, the author was asked about what would happen to Kurapika and the Phantom Troupe. To this, Togashi replied: “They will all die.”

As of now, there have been several characters who have met their untimely fate in the story. However, the main characters have managed to have pretty good luck so far.

Author Yoshihiro Togashi had big plans for Kurapika

Kurapika’s storyline managed to capture viewers’ attention for its intense and entertaining story arc. When the idea was adapted into an anime format, things were no different. Many hoped there would be more of it, and so did Togashi.

The author admitted that he had planned to further explore the storyline between Kurapika and Phantom Troup but was unable to do so due to his health issues. He said: “Why/how I started was because this was at a time when I didn’t think things would become so tiring so I thought I would immediately be able to put it onto paper. So, I wanted to draw out the relationship/conflict between the Phantom Troupe and Kurapika starting from their origins.”

” I thought I would be able to finish it quickly, and I was able to finish Kurapika’s quickly. But shortly after, a lot happened and I ended up having to shelve it,” he continued.

What we know about the manga’s return

In March 2023, Togashi took to Twitter to confirm that he was back at work. He said: “Although the production system has not been solidified yet for the manga, I am glad that my working time at the desk is gradually increasing little by little.”

Weekly Shonen Jump confirmed the same by writing: “Togashi-sensei will continue to write the following chapters, and the editorial department will continue to support him until the completion of the manga. Specific publication dates and methods will be announced in future issues of Weekly Shonen Jump.”

As of now, a new release date for the manga has not been revealed.
