Mauricio Pochettino’s Chelsea sold Kai Havertz to Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal and signed Cole Palmer from Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City in the summer transfer window.
And, according to former Tottenham Hotspur player and talkSPORT pundit Jamie O’Hara, Chelsea have done well in those deals.
Arsenal signed Germany international attacker Kai Havertz from Chelsea in June 2023 for £65 million (Sky Sports).
On the final day of the summer transfer window, Chelsea signed attacker Cole Palmer from Manchester City for £40 million (Sky Sports).
Cole Palmer an upgrade on Kai Havertz for Chelsea
O’Hara said on talkSPORT (6pm, October 7, 2023): “Cole Palmer is an upgrade on Havertz, isn’t he? Massively.”
Former Tottenham player O’Hara made the comments about Palmer after Chelsea’s win against Burnley.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side beat Burnley 4-1 at Turf Moor in the Premier League on Saturday.
Palmer scored from the penalty spot and also gave an assist.
Cole Palmer having a better season than Kai Havertz
Havertz, who can operate as an attacking midfielder or as a forward, has struggled to make an impact at Arsenal.
The 24-year-old has scored one goal in five starts and two substitute appearances in the Premier League.
Palmer, 21, has scored one goal and given one assist in two starts and three substitute appearances in the Premier League for Chelsea so far this campaign.
The youngster, who can operate as an attacking midfielder or as a winger, has also given one assist in one EFL Cup match.
