Pundit Paul Merson has praised Chelsea trio Conor Gallagher, Cole Palmer and Raheem Sterling after their displays against Manchester City.

We have just witnessed an absolute Premier League classic with Chelsea and Manchester City playing out a 4-4 draw at Stamford Bridge.

A back-and-forth battle saw City go 1-0 up, Chelsea battle back to 2-1 up, City turn it around again at 3-2, a Chelsea leveller, what looked like a City winner and then one final twist.

Cole Palmer stepped up from the penalty spot – just over two months since leaving City for Chelsea – to score an injury-time penalty and rescue a 4-4 draw.

Chelsea turned in a superb display and were well worth a point against the Premier League champions.

Mauricio Pochettino’s men seem to be turning a corner and pundit Paul Merson has moved to praise three Chelsea stars.

Merson has taken to social media to suggest that Conor Gallagher, Cole Palmer and Raheem Sterling were all ‘very good’ for Chelsea.

Sterling was a threat throughout and scored against his former club in the first half before Palmer followed suit after the break.

Gallagher was all-action in midfield and his shot resulted in Nicolas Jackson making it 3-3.

Merson loved what he saw from all three players and believes that Chelsea will now be ‘flying up the league’ after this performance.

City old boys make Pep Guardiola pay

We have seen a rise in transfers between the so-called ‘big six’ of late.

Those clubs appear to have realised that there isn’t much money flying around outside of the Premier League, so there aren’t many other exit avenues.

City have been willing to sell players to rivals with both Palmer and Sterling fitting the bill.

Sterling will have loved his goal against City and it felt like fate that Palmer would be given a chance to make City pay for selling him.

Chelsea will be delighted that they are now featuring at Stamford Bridge rather than the Etihad Stadium, and will no doubt see more from them moving forward.
