Crystal Palace defender Rob Holding could be on the move again in 2024 with Bournemouth interested in the centre back.

Rob Holding only left Arsenal for Crystal Palace on deadline day but could move on to Bournemouth in January.

That is according to Football Transfers, who claim that Bournemouth have now expressed an interest in signing Holding.

The 28-year-old spent seven years as an Arsenal player, racking up 162 appearances in all competitions.

The time came for Holding to leave on deadline day though, completing a move to Palace worth £1million plus £2.5million in add-ons.

Holding’s plan was to leave Arsenal and play more regular first-team football at Selhurst Park.

However, Holding has yet to even play a single minute of Premier League action in a Palace shirt.

The problem is that Palace have two settled centre backs in Marc Guehi and Joachim Andersen.

That means Holding is on the outside looking in and already attracting interest from elsewhere.

Football Transfers claim that Bournemouth have now shown an interest in taking Holding to the South Coast.

It’s unclear if Holding would be interested in moving on again so soon after leaving Arsenal, but the Cherries may try to tempt him.

Holding may inadvertently help Tottenham Hotspur

News of Bournemouth moving for another centre back may be of real interest to Tottenham Hotspur – Holding’s old rival as an Arsenal player.

Reports from the London Evening Standard earlier this month suggested that Tottenham are expected to move for Bournemouth defender Lloyd Kelly.

Kelly is out of contract at the end of the season but Bournemouth really don’t want to see him go in the January window.

Bournemouth would surely need to sign another centre back in order to let Kelly leave, with Holding potentially that player.

Holding isn’t a like-for-like replacement given that Kelly is a natural left-footer, but the interest in Holding may well be to try and bring some Premier League experience into the side should Kelly move on.

Bournemouth have another left-sided defender in Marcos Senesi and signing another centre back surely only makes sense if somebody is leaving, given that Bournemouth also have Chris Mepham and Illya Zabarnyi.

Tottenham will be watching closely and may be encouraged to push for Kelly’s signature as Bournemouth look into landing Holding.
