Tottenham Hotspur are now ready to offer Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg to Chelsea in a swap deal to sign England midfielder Conor Gallagher during the January transfer window.
Spurs coach Ange Postecoglou is desperate to strengthen their side in the upcoming winter market. Tottenham started strongly under the Australian but their season started to unravel after a couple of injuries. Cristian Romero and Yves Bissouma have also shown ill-discipline.
Only Liverpool also received four red cards in the opening 17 matches of the Premier League term. Bissouma has drawn two of Tottenham’s four dismissals to date along with one apiece for Romero and Destiny Udogie. Bissouma and Udogie have also both seen five yellow cards.

Tottenham’s difficulties to field a full-strength side saw Spurs go from an unbeaten club after 10 games to losing four of their next five. So, Sky Sports now reports that Postecoglou wants to sign a new centre-half as a priority in January. But Gallagher is also on Tottenham’s radar.
Postecoglou is desperate to improve their backline, yet must also shop with a limited budget in January. So, Tottenham are discussing internally the idea of offering Hojbjerg to Chelsea in a swap deal for Gallagher’s transfer. Hojbjerg has a clutch of suitors, including Juventus, too.
Sky Sports does not claim Chelsea’s stance on the swap deal but adds that the Blues want to sign a defensive midfielder. Mauricio Pochettino’s desire to get another deep-lying option at Stamford Bridge will also intensify if Gallagher departs in the upcoming mid-season sales.

Tottenham are happy to axe Hojbjerg for Gallagher’s transfer from Chelsea as Postecoglou is yet to trust the 28-year-old. Despite the Spurs boss calling the Dane ‘excellent’ earlier in the month, Hojbjerg has only started three Premier League games from his 16 outings this term.
He has further only featured for 577 minutes from a potential 1,620 having been fit for all of their games. Gallagher, on the other hand, has been a regular part of Pochettino’s plans. The 23-year-old has started in all 16 of his games and has also captained the Blues eight times.
Chelsea have only been without Gallagher once in 2023/24 after he received a red card for two bookable offences. The dismissal against Brighton & Hove Albion kept him out of a 2-1 defeat at Manchester United. The 11-cap England star has four assists this season, though.
