Pundit Jamie Carragher has praised Tottenham Hotspur striker Son Heung-min for his work rate against Manchester City on Sunday.

Son Heung-min’s work rate in Tottenham’s 3-3 draw at Manchester City should be an example for Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford.

That is the verdict of Jamie Carragher, who has been speaking to Sky Sports about both Son and Rashford.

Son opened the scoring for Tottenham on Sunday afternoon as they played out a 3-3 draw away at Manchester City.

Spurs just wouldn’t back down and twice battled back from behind to claim a point at the Etihad Stadium.

Son scores regularly anyway, but it seems like he has a special place in his heart for a goal against City.

That’s now eight goals in 18 games against City, but Sunday’s display was about more than just his goal.

Son put in an incredible shift as the spearhead of Tottenham’s attack, showing off his outstanding work rate once again.

The South Korean is 31 now but he isn’t slowing down at all and Tottenham have seen him step up with the captain’s armband this season.

Pundit Jamie Carragher has now moved to praise Son whilst discussing Manchester United attacker Marcus Rashford.

Rashford looked completely disinterested in United’s 1-0 defeat at Newcastle United on Saturday, with many now questioning his work ethic.

Carragher suggests that Manchester City is possibly the worst place to play as an opposition forward as you have to do so much running and won’t get much of the ball.

Carragher believes that Son played that role perfectly on Sunday, praising him as he ‘did not stop running’ and played like a real ‘leader’ and ‘captain’ in Tottenham’s draw.

The former Liverpool defender didn’t see any of that from Rashford and feels that the United striker should be showing the desire like Son rather than looking like he’s not bothered.

Carragher called on Rashford to bring everybody up with him at United given that he is a local player who came up in the Old Trafford ranks.

“There must be no more difficult place to go as an attacking player, a centre forward, a lone striker than away at Man City – you’re not going to get much of a kick,” said Carragher. “Son did not stop running and yeah, he got his goal and he was involved and he’s a good player, but when you talk about the real great players that we have seen in this league attacking-wise, you think of Mo Salah and Mane, you think of some of the players Manchester City have had, you saw Son today, he didn’t stop running. That was a leader, that was a captain today, away at Manchester City.”

“We’re not asking for the goals and the assists from Rashford, they will come, we have seen that in the past. What you’re asking for is leadership – it doesn’t matter who he’s playing with, those players have got to look up to him and go ‘he is Manchester United, he’s what embodies this football club and he’s gonna drag them up with him’, because that football club is an unbelievable football club, and it will get back to the top, that will happen, but it’s Marcus Rashford’s job – more than anybody in that squad, because he’s local – to drag that team with him,” he added.
