Ian Wright praised Bukayo Saka for putting in yet another top display as Arsenal recorded a 2-1 win over Wolves on Saturday.
For many years, you could see the quality in Bukayo Saka’s boots and the levels of performance he was hitting for his boyhood club.
But last season was the season when the 22-year-old took it up another level for Arsenal by scoring 14 and assisting 11 from 38 games.
Well, now that Bukayo Saka is in the Champions League, he has taken his game up a level, including opening the scoring during the narrow win against Wolves yesterday.
As a result, Ian Wright thinks the Hale-End academy product is producing every match and it proves ‘the levels he has got to now’, as he told Premier League Productions (02/12/23 at 5:10 pm).
Already this season, the England international has five goals and six assists to his name, including seven goal involvements in the Champions League – he scored and assisted against RC Lens in midweek.
That’s why Ian Wright feels that Bukayo Saka is scoring or assisting every game.
Bukayo Saka’s goals and assists for Arsenal
“That’s the levels he has got to now,” said Wright. “He is a goal or an assist every game.
“What it is, when it gets tight in the game, he is someone who now has the quality and the awareness to pick that player out. He is either scoring or picking someone out.”
Is Bukayo Saka world-class?
That talk has to start sooner rather than later. Not only is he performing at the top level in the Premier League, but in Europe also.
Even though this is Saka’s first time playing in the Champions League, he is performing like a seasoned veteran.
Not forgetting his performances in England colours. The likes of Harry Kane and Jude Bellingham are perhaps Gareth Southgate’s most important players.
And it could be argued that Saka is in the same camp as those guys, in terms of importance for England ahead of Euro 2024.
