Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham Hotspur have probably conducted the best transfer business so far in January, with many deals going in and out of the club.

The arrivals of Timo Werner, on a loan deal from RB Leipzig, and the fantastic capture of Radu Dragusin have been the standouts.

Tottenham also did well to get Eric Dier, a player who had fallen out of favour under Ange Postecoglou, out of the door and to Bayern Munich.

But could more deals be conducted? Well, Ally McCoist has backed ex-Celtic star Jota possibly signing for Tottenham, as he told talkSPORT.

Sources told HITC Football earlier this month that Spurs are actively pursuing this deal and are in contact with the 24-year-old.

The former Rangers striker noted how Jota, who left Parkhead for Saudi Arabia last summer, would be ‘worth a punt’ for the London club.

Jota was immense during his time at Celtic, winning back-to-back titles, including the domestic Treble in his final season.

Ange Postecoglou knows the player very well and it would be much easier for the versatile forward to settle in.

Jota to Tottenham?

“If Spurs could get him to play and Ange could get him the way he did for Celtic, he was a good watch,” said McCoist.

“Chipped in with a few goals, could go by people. If he could get the same player, who clearly hasn’t hit it off in Saudi Arabia, I think he is worth a punt.”

Tottenham’s attack

It’s growing by the numbers and now it’s the main focal point of the team. If the forward line doesn’t tick, then Spurs are in trouble because of their expansive style.

But, for the most part, everything has been going smoothly, including outplaying Manchester United over the weekend, despite having several players out.

In regards to Jota possibly joining this month, this is probably one to watch out for in the summer when certain players leave or decisions are made.

That’s when Postecoglou can start to really make the big calls and it might just free up space up front for Jota to sign.
