Tottenham Hotspur are set to sign Radu Dragusin but Romanian pundit Vasile Miriuta does not seem impressed with the defender’s move.

Tottenham announced January signing number one on Tuesday night with Timo Werner arriving on loan from RB Leipzig.

Signing number two isn’t far away now with Genoa centre back Radu Dragusin on the verge of being announced as a Tottenham player.

HITC Football understands that Dragusin was due into London for a medical today after a dramatic transfer saga in recent days.

Bayern Munich made a move to hijack Tottenham’s bid for Dragusin, but ended up choosing a move to North London, rejecting the Bundesliga giants.

That decision has raised a few eyebrows.

Bayern are one of the biggest clubs in the world and are regular winners of the Bundesliga title.

Thomas Tuchel’s men have the Champions League crown in mind this season and that kind of move would appeal to many players.

Dragusin received the offer from Bayern and decided to stay true to Tottenham following their protracted pursuit.

Not everybody is on board with that call and pundit Vasile Miriuta is one of them.

The former Bundesliga midfielder was born in Romania and remains a pundit over there despite turning out for Hungary as a player.

Miriuta has now told Digisport that he would have preferred to see Dragusin join Bayern in order to win the Bundesliga title year after year.

Miriuta believes Tottenham are ‘good but ‘not very good’ and completely wrote off any chance of even challenging for the Premier League title this season.

The former Dinamo Bucharest boss added that Dragusin will probably play more at Spurs than at Bayern and that is important for his development, even if he doesn’t totally agree with the move.

“A huge step. I would have liked for Drăgușin to reach Bayern,” said Miriuta. “There he would have won the title year after year and played in the Champions League. Probably, Radu really wanted England, to develop there. He went to a good team, not very good. A team that I can’t see challenging for the Premier League title though.”

“He’s not Bayern’s size, that’s the truth. It’s a team with a name anyway, that was his wish. Chances are he will play, because otherwise they wouldn’t spend so much money on him. The management, the coach wanted him very much. He can grow a lot, the important thing is that he be healthy and play there,” he added.

Dragusin is certainly a big talent but he won’t be walking straight into the Tottenham back four.

Spurs saw Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven form a very impressive centre back pairing earlier this season and they will both be fully fit after injury soon.

Dragusin may well need to start as Tottenham’s third-choice centre back and work his way towards the starting XI under Ange Postecoglou.

The 21-year-old seems confident that he can become a star at Tottenham and with Spurs only six points off top spot, who knows how far he and Postecoglou’s men can go this season?
