Tottenham Hotspur are closing in on signing RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner with boss Marco Rose indicating that a departure is on the cards.

Tottenham fans will have wondered if a striker was coming in this month.

Harry Kane was sold to Bayern Munich in August and Tottenham invested in a winger by signing Brennan Johnson.

Son Heung-min and Richarlison have been featuring up top for Tottenham but Ange Postecoglou now seems ready to sign another striker…

Marco Rose comments on Timo Werner future amid Tottenham Hotspur chase

HITC Football understands that Tottenham are now closing in on signing RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner.

Spurs are now favourites to get a loan deal done despite Werner being offered out to other Premier League clubs.

Crystal Palace, Fulham, Manchester United and West Ham United have all been invited to move for Werner this month.

However, Tottenham are now leading the race and appear to be nearing a deal to bring Werner back to the Premier League.

RB Leipzig left Werner out of their squad to face St Gallen on Saturday afternoon, confirming that he is in talks with another club.

Boss Marco Rose has now told Sky Germany reporter Philipp Hinze that rumours of Werner going away on loan are ‘right’.

Rose admitted that Werner wants to leave in order to play regularly and push for a place in Germany’s squad for Euro 2024.

RB Leipzig subsequently wish Werner all the best and are hoping to see him shine in England with Tottenham.

“It’s right that Timo wants to go on loan,” said Rose. “Timo would like to go to the European Championships. We wish him all the best and are keeping our fingers crossed for him,” he added.

Werner now looks poised for another shot at Premier League action after previously struggling to show his best form for Chelsea.

The 27-year-old excelled in his first spell with RB Leipzig and secured himself a huge move to Chelsea back in 2020.

Werner didn’t quite replicate his Bundesliga form in the Premier League, managing only 10 goals in 56 league games for the Blues.

Sold back to RB Leipzig for £25million in 2022, Werner has now dropped down the pecking order and is seemingly free to go.

Tottenham will now hope to see Werner rediscover his best form under Postecoglou – and potentially earn himself a permanent return to English football.
