Liverpool have watched Feyenoord defender David Hancko but the Premier League giants are yet to take their interest in the Eredivisie-winning centre-back any further.

It doesn’t take much reading between the lines to realise where Liverpool’s priorities lie.

HITC Football reported on Tuesday that the Merseysiders may consider testing Chelsea’s resolve with a move for Levi Colwill, with the former Brighton loanee just one of many talented, cultured, left-sided centre-halves seemingly on Liverpool’s radar.

HITC have also been informed, after David Hancko’s agent gave a rather revealing interview to the Czech press, that the Feyenoord stopper has fair share of admirers at Anfield too.

Liverpool sources have confirmed to us that Hancko has been watched, albeit while insisting that – as things stand – that is as far as it’s gone.

Liverpool are watching Feyenoord’s David Hancko

Hancko, a relative late-bloomer at 26, has excelled since moving to Rotterdam from Sparta Prague for a bargain £5 million back in 2022. He was a key part of the team which stormed to the Eredvisie title under the highly-rated Arne Slot last season, Feyenoord claiming Dutch football’s biggest prize for the first time since Liverpool icon Dirk Kuyt captained them to glory seven years previously.

Hancko, who once had a brief spell in Italy with Fiorentina, can play at left-back as well as at centre-half, like Colwill. It just so happens that Liverpool are currently short of options on the left, having lost both Andy Robertson and Kostas Tsimikas to injury. The six-time European champions opted to re-call Owen Beck from his impressive loan spell at Dundee.

Hancko’s agent claims that, alongside Liverpool, there is also interest from Paris Saint-Germain.

PSG battle lies ahead for Jurgen Klopp

“As an agency, we are in contact not only with these two clubs (Liverpool and PSG), but also with others who are looking into David’s situation,” Branislav Jasurek, who works for the FairSports Agency, tells TN.

“I estimate that, 80 to 90 per cent, David will stay in Rotterdam, because Feyenoord is fighting for the Champions League and the people at Feyenoord know that David Hancko will be sold even in the summer.

“It would have to be one of the big clubs. He will certainly not go from Feyenoord, which is going to play in the Champions League, to a club that will play in the bottom half of the Premier League.”
