A round-up of the latest transfer gossip from around Europe with Newcastle United contacting Bayern Munich to hear about the availability of a 28-year-old midfielder.

The Magpies are in the market for a new engine room operator after losing Joelinton for the remainder of the season. Newcastle sense the 27-year-old will be sidelined into the summer as he recovers from a groin problem. He damaged a tendon in the FA Cup tie at Sunderland.

Newcastle boss Eddie Howe and the St James’ Park natives are having to box smart, though. The majority Saudi Arabian-owned team are close to breaching the Premier League’s profit and sustainability rules. But Joelinton’s injury is now forcing the Toon to explore the market.

Newcastle United have now approached Bayern Munich to enquire about Joshua Kimmich’s availability for a transfer in January. But BILD claims the 28-year-old is not keen to decide his future now as he focuses on his performances. He also wants to fight for the very best titles.

AFC Ajax chiefs will fly into England on Wednesday afternoon to speak to Jordan Henderson over his transfer. Sky Sports reports the Eredivisie giants are ready to sign the midfielder on an initial 18-month move. Al-Ettifaq have also agreed to tear up his contract in Saudi Arabia.

Marseille are rivalling Brentford, Lyon and Fulham to get the transfer of Said Benrahma from West Ham United. The Daily Mail reports the Irons are open to the 28-year-old leaving with Saudi sides keen. He may never play for West Ham again, too, after a red card in the FA Cup.

Brentford have agreed to terms with Tottenham Hotspur and Sergio Reguilon to land a loan deal until the summer. Sky Sports reports he is due to seal a move to the Gtech Community Stadium to afford Thomas Frank a recognised left-back following Rico Henry’s knee injury.

Tottenham are also set to send Japhet Tanganga out on a new loan transfer after returning from Augsburg. The Evening Standard notes Spurs recalled him, and Alfie Devine from Port Vale who has now moved to Plymouth Argyle, but they are weighing up Tanganga’s future.

Chelsea intend to send a raft of their young players out on loan in January but want to keep Alfie Gilchrist at the club. The Evening Standard claims the 20-year-old has impressed coach Mauricio Pochettino and is now a part of their first-team squad following his recent debut.

French football expert Jonathan Johnson has told Sky Sports that Lenny Yoro of LOSC Lille is drawing interest from Liverpool, Real Madrid, Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain. But the highly-rated 18-year-old centre-back is unlikely to leave his Ligue 1 side this January.

Feyenoord are interested in signing Neco Williams on loan from Nottingham Forest. 1908.nl reports the Eredivisie outfit’s scouts suggested the 22-year-old as a suitable target as he fits the team’s desired profile. Feyenoord could also explore a longer deal if Williams impresses.

Cardiff City may offer Axel Tuanzebe an escape route from promotion-chasers Ipswich Town in January. Sky Sports reports the 26-year-old is keen to play more regularly amidst interest from several Championship clubs. He has only played six second-tier games so far this term.

USMNT talent Giovanni Reyna is determined to leave Borussia Dortmund during the January transfer window. ESPN claims agents have also offered several top European sides a chance to sign the 21-year-old. Sevilla and Real Sociedad are showing the most interest in a swoop.
