Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner is keen on bringing Matthias Seidl to the Premier League with the Rapid Vienna star’s agent opening up on the player’s Selhurst Park connections.
HITC Football understands that one of the brightest young talents in Austrian football is emerging as a man in high demand ahead of the summer transfer window.
Fulham, Burnley, Leicester City and Wolverhampton Wanderers have all sent scouts to watch Matthias Seidl in action. But new Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner is keen to work with the 23-year-old at Selhurst Park, and his hopes should be boosted by the presence of one Ronald Brunmayr on the Eagles coaching staff.

It was Brunmayr, Glasner’s assistant coach, who brought Seidl to FC Blau-Weiss Linz back in 2021, after all, the Austria international spending two years at the Hofman Personal Stadium before moving on to Rapid Vienna last summer.
“Ronald Brunmayr brought Matthias to Blau-Weiss Linz. And he is now on the coaching team at Crystal Palace,” explains agent Philipp Mirtl, speaking to the Salzburger Nachrichten.
“So he knows my protege’s abilities.”
Seidl, a 5ft 9ins attacking midfielder, has forced his way into Ralf Rangnick’s Austria reckoning ahead of the European Championships. The youngster has been a big hit at Rapid Vienna too, a tally of nine goals and six assists catching the eye of compatriot Glasner.
Palace have made a number of inspired additions in recent transfer windows, highly-rated sporting director Dougie Freedman making Selhurst Park home to some of the most exciting youngsters on the market. Seidl would be in good company alongside Michael Olise, Marc Guehi, Ebere Eze and Cheick Doucoure.

“Matthias Seidl is a young player with a lot of potential,” Markus Katzer, Rapid Vienna’s sporting director, says of a man who was voted Player of the Year in Austria’s second-tier last term.
“His statistics speak for themselves. Matthias brings with him an incredible mentality as well as a goal threat and footballing quality.”
HITC Football understands that Glasner has also instructed the Palace hierarchy to keep tabs on Seidl’s Rapid Vienna team-mate Leopold Querfeld. There is existing interest at the South London outfit in Club Brugge enforcer Raphael Onyedinka and Juventus’ England Under-21 winger Samuel Iling-Junior.
