Manchester United and Manchester City are among the clubs interested In signing Franco Mastantuono, HITC understands.
Franco Mastantuono is one of the most talented and promising prospects in Argentine football and has attracted the interest of major clubs in Europe.
Manchester United, Manchester City and Chelsea eye Franco Mastantuono
Sources have told HITC that Manchester United and Manchester City are keen on the 16-year-old River Plate attacking midfielder.
Chelsea, City, United, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain have spoken with intermediaries about Mastantuono in recent months.
City, who are aiming to win the Premier League, the UEFA Champions League and the FA Cup this season, are close to River and already have a deal in place for Claudio Echeverri.
Echeverri, who is 18 years of age and can operate as an attacking midfielder or as a winger, will join up with the City squad next January.
City also signed Julian Alvarez from River. The 24-year-old Argentina international forward is now a star in Pep Guardiola’s first team.
Franco Mastantuono to sign new River Plate contract
Despite the good relationship between City and River, the Argentine club are not brokering a deal with the Citizens or any other club as yet. And, as it stands, Mastantuono is not in a hurry to commit elsewhere.
Mastantuono looks set to stay at River Plate. HITC understands that the Argentine club are close to finalising a new contract with the midfield starlet, who is set to shun interest from elite European clubs.
The 16-year-old, who has been given his first-team debut by River coach Martin Demichelis, is currently under contract for another 12 months and has a release clause of around £25 million.
River are now in talks over extending his deal by a further year to 2026. and that could also see his release clause nearly double.
