Arsenal are telling the rest of the Premier League that they aren’t going anywhere.

12 months ago, Arsenal fans watched their team collapse in front of the footballing world and hand the Premier League title to Manchester City.

But this time around, Mikel Arteta and his players have a mean streak about them. They are acting and playing like champions.

That was proven during Arsenal’s 3-0 win at Brighton on Saturday, which sent the London club to the top of the Premier League table.

Tim Sherwood stated that Arsenal are now ‘controlling’ matters, with players, from back to front, performing, as he told Premier League Productions (06/04/24 at 7:30 pm).

The former title-winning midfielder gave flowers to the central defensive duo of William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes.

They have played a huge part in Arteta’s men having the best defence in the Premier League, with club-record signing Declan Rice making a game-changing difference in front of them.

But Tim Sherwood also thinks captain Martin Odegaard is ‘back to his best’ after going through a sticky period over the winter.

William Saliba, Gabriel Magalhaes and Martin Odegaard for Arsenal

“They are controlling it at the minute,” said Sherwood. “Brilliant defending. Gabriel and Saliba were absolutely magnificent, with Declan Rice in front and then they have a sprinkle of magic up front.

“Martin Odegaard is back to his best by pulling all the strings. They will keep talking about it, but we have stopped, haven’t we? Talking about a centre-forward. They have scored so many goals. They are way ahead on the goal difference.”

Arsenal v Bayern Munich in the Champions League

What a huge game this is for Arsenal and they have prepared for it in the best possible way.

Fans can’t argue about injuries because most players are fit, ready and firing, whilst Bayern themselves are in a world of trouble.

It’s only a matter of time before Bayer Leverkusen win the Bundesliga title, but despite being 2-0 up to Heidenheim over the weekend, Thomas Tuchel’s men still lost 3-2.

Yes, a certain Harry Kane will be making a return to London next week, but there has never been a better time for Arsenal to beat Bayern Munich in the Champions League.
