Manchester United are certainly taking their fans on a roller coaster ride this season after their 2-2 draw against Liverpool on Sunday.
After the utter heartbreak of losing 4-3 to Chelsea in midweek, the Manchester United fanbase went into the Liverpool game fearing the worst.
Yes, Erik the Hag had watched his players record a quite stunning 4-3 FA Cup win against the very same opponents last month.
But this Premier League title-chasing side were going to hunt them down and punish them for that previous defeat, or so people thought!
When Luis Diaz put the away team ahead, it seemed as though that might come true, as Liverpool dominated the first half and should have scored more than just one goal.
But Jarell Quansah’s gift and wayward back pass saw Bruno Fernandes score a stunning goal from distance at the start of the second half, before Kobbie Mainoo showed everyone who is the boss.
At 18-years-old, it’s scary to think what he is already producing such performances for Manchester United, with Nemanja Vidic telling the world that he is ‘reminding me of Luka Modric’, as he told Premier League Productions (07/04/24 at 5:40 pm).
The legendary defender lauded Mainoo for his Federico Macheda-like goal and how he has great awareness of his game and his surroundings when out on the pitch.
Kobbie Mainoo and Luka Modric
“Mainoo has been fantastic, especially his awareness in these areas,” said Vidic.
“He reminds me sometimes of Modric. He always hears who is behind him. You can see he did the first touch, straight away moved to the side and a great strike. It’s difficult to defend that.”

Manchester United debut ticked off. Goals under his belt. Man of the Match awards. And now a regular.
Added to that, Mainoo has also earned his maiden England cap during the last internationals and fans will be hoping there is more to come.
Euro 2024 is around the corner, will Gareth Southgate showcase guts and pick a rising star for such a big tournament?
Never mind getting picked, Mainoo should probably be starting alongside Jude Bellingham and Declan Rice.
But you just never know with Southgate. He might just ignore the player altogether and leave him at home in the summer.
