A huge game awaits West Ham United and Tottenham Hotspur on Tuesday night at the London Stadium.

In the reverse fixture, Ange Postecoglou watched his team suffer a defeat to their bitter rivals.

David Moyes will be hoping, after West Ham collapsed to a 4-3 defeat to Newcastle on Saturday, that his team can bounce back and do the double over their neighbours.

Tottenham could move into fourth spot with three points. They are three points behind, with a game in hand, of Aston Villa.

Meanwhile, the Hammers could close the gap to sixth-placed Manchester United to one point, but they would have played two games extra.

Paul Merson noted how Spurs are a ‘bag of rebels’ because, one minute, they are beating Aston Villa, then getting slapped by Fulham, as he told Sportkeeda.

The former double-winner also spoke about West Ham’s situation and how Moyes didn’t help himself by substituting Michail Antonio at St James’ Park, and it then resulted in his team collapsing.

You can see nothing but goals galore here because both sides will go at each other’s throats.

But Merson thinks it’s going to result in a 2-1 win for the home team.

David Moyes v Ange Postecoglou

“West Ham were 3-1 up against Newcastle and they took off Michail Antonio,” said Merson. “He was their focal point and they asked Newcastle to have a go.

“Tottenham are becoming a bag of rebels. They were excellent against Villa before they got slaughtered by Fulham, and they stumbled over the line against Luton. They could win or lose this game by a 3-0 margin, and you wouldn’t flinch either way. They’re getting back to the Tottenham of old – their inconsistency could hurt them.

“This is one of the biggest games of West Ham’s season, and the fans will back them this week. West Ham are playing at home and could pull off a victory.”

Defeat would be damaging

You can just imagine, if either team loses here, then the reaction won’t be pleasant.

There is more negative noise towards Moyes from the West Ham fans, whilst the Spurs faithful are well and truly behind Postecoglou.

Defeat for one side and there will be calls for Moyes’ head, and if it’s the other is walking away with nothing, then there will be fears that they won’t finish in the top four.

You just sense that, whoever gets the opening goal here, then they will walk away with maximum points.
