Can Tottenham Hotspur find some much-needed consistency?
Ange Postecoglou’s side are now sitting fourth in the Premier League table after beating Nottingham Forest on Sunday.
Tottenham are level on points with Aston Villa, with a game in hand and a better goal difference.
After Villa dropped points against Brentford, those in London ensured that they didn’t shoot themselves in the foot and did their job by securing the three points.
One annoyance the fans have had with the team is their inability to start games quickly, well, Son Heung-min and Timo Werner ensured that happened against Forest.
Yes, it was an own goal that opened the scoring for Spurs, but it was the brilliant play from their two attackers that started the ball rolling.
Nemanja Vidic certainly recognised that and he praised Son and Werner for their ‘great play’, as he told Premier League Productions (07/04/24 at 6:55 pm).
In truth, the home team were lucky to then go into the break at 1-1 because Chris Wood should have put his team 2-1 ahead, as well as James Maddison not getting sent off.
But that early goal meant that Postecoglou’s side didn’t fall behind at any point, with Vidic keen to give Son and Werner their flowers.

“This is a great ball from Son,” said Vidic. “When you are playing against a team that is very narrow, then there is space on the wing.
“It’s a great cross into the middle (from Werner). A great play from Tottenham. A great ball from the wide areas, which I have felt there is more room to explore. And a deserved goal from Tottenham.”
Will Tottenham buy Timo Werner outright?
The RB Leipzig star is on a loan deal at the club until the end of the season and has produced mixed performances.
There hasn’t been anything standout from Werner, but nor has he done anything wrong that is worrying.
One thing is for sure, the German suits Postecoglou’s style of play and if he guides the club to the Champions League, then why not buy him outright? Sources have told HITC that Tottenham are keen on bringing highly-rated forward, Antonio Nusa to the club.
Not for big crazy money, but a decent transfer fee and he could prove to be a very strong squad player next season.
