Ajax defender Jorrel Hato has spoken about his future at the Dutch club amid links to Manchester United and Arsenal.

Despite the defender only making his first team debut last year, the teenager is already attracting the attention of some of the biggest clubs in the land.

HITC have previously reported that both Manchester United and Arsenal were keeping a close on the Dutch defender with a view to potentially making a move for the teenager in this upcoming transfer window.

A defensive addition looks to be one of the priorities for United, this is despite the Old Trafford club still, as of yet, providing no clarity on Erik ten Hag’s future.

Hato on his Ajax future

The defender has been speaking to Dutch outlet Ajax Life and was directly asked whether a move to the Premier League this summer would come too soon for the teenage sensation.

“No, I’ll just play for Ajax next season,” he said. “I haven’t finished learning here yet. And I want to win prizes with Ajax. That was my dream when I came here.”

For a player of his age, game time is the most important aspect of his career and he is certainly getting exactly that at the Amsterdam giants.

In the Eredivisie last season, Jorrel Hato made 33 appearances, as well as a further 10 appearances in the Europa League and Conference League.

Hato wouldn’t be the first Dutch defender who could demand a big fee with Bayern Munich star Matthijs De Ligt being sold to Juventus from Ajax back in 2019 for £67 million, as per The Independent. Hato wouldn’t demand that sort of fee but it would be a good sum of money.

United and Arsenal chase Hato

We previously reported that scouts from both clubs were in attendance with those from United wanting a left side defender and the teenager would fit the bill.

As for Arsenal, it is our understanding that the Gunners are the favourites to sign the Dutchman with Hato said to be keen on playing under Mikel Arteta.

It appears that the teenage sensation has ruled out a move to the Premier League this summer but if the defender, who was awarded the Marco Van Basten award for his efforts, carries on this upward trajectory, a transfer might not be too far in the future.
