Manchester United fans are still waiting to see if Erik ten Hag will be their manager next season.
The club need to make a call as soon as possible because it will then allow the important people to focus on the 2024 summer transfer window.
Manchester United face one of the most important windows in recent history because this is the first time INEOS, led by Sir Jim Ratcliffe, will be able to flex their muscle and show what they are all about.
The FA Cup final win over Manchester City was one worth celebrating and something the fans could really enjoy.
But it still won’t paper over the cracks of what the team has been producing on the pitch, with serious pressure on ten Hag.
This forthcoming transfer window isn’t just about who Manchester United will sign, but also about who could head for the exit door.
You feel that could be as important because of how many players in that Old Trafford dressing room have been a part of so many different managers.
One rumour that has been doing the rounds lately is the future of one Bruno Fernandes.
Sources have told HITC that, as part of INEOS’ season review, they are discussing the future of their captain.
Andy Townsend was reacting to the suggestion that Bayern Munich are keen on the Portugal international and how fans would be ‘absolutely gutted’ if he departed, as he told talkSPORT (03/06/24 at 7:20 am).
Jason Cundy warned that, despite Fernandes being a marmite-like character, he simply can’t leave because he is his team’s best player.
Bruno Fernandes and Bayern Munich
“Could one of the most divisive players in the Premier League be on their way out,” said Cundy. “There is no doubting in Bruno’s ability, no doubting that at all. But his histrionics, at times, can be a little painful to watch.
“But, according to reports in Portugal, Bayern Munich have opened talks with his agent and Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes ahead of a potential transfer this summer. New Bayern boss, Vincent Kompany wants to add him to his squad after a disappointing season for the Bundesliga side – I get it. I totally get it. He is a brilliant midfielder. He has got the lot. But, at times, he drives me insane. Man United can’t sell him. He is their best player. Their most influential player.”
Townsend added: “That would be pretty disastrous for Manchester United fans. I am sure they aren’t even contemplating it. It would have to be something incredible. Also, it would probably have to come down to the fact that Bruno turns around and says ‘I want to go’. I don’t think that’s going to happen. When I have heard him say he wants to stay and be part of a really successful Manchester United, I honestly believe he is serious there, be part of it and turn it around. But you never know. It would be devastating for Man United fans if he were to move on. They would be absolutely gutted about it.”

Manchester United should keep Bruno Fernandes
Over the years, Man United have made some questionable and quite abject signings.
There are so many of them you can list. But Fernandes is probably the only one who comes out of it in a shining light.

Yes, he has been part of the squad that recorded the club’s worst league finish in over three decades.
But Manchester United would be better off putting quality around Fernandes, knowing you can build the team around him and he would deliver.
Or else, he would probably end up at an elite team, win trophies there and probably more.
