Ange Postecoglou has progressed Tottenham Hotspur after last season’s shambles.
Only 12 months ago, Spurs were finishing outside of Europe and playing a style of football that the majority of the fanbase hated.
But Ange Postecoglou, who won the Treble at Celtic, entered the building and helped transform Tottenham around, even though the season ended poorly.
The London club were in a long battle with Unai Emery’s Aston Villa for fourth spot, but the Midlands side secured Champions League football.
Yes, that was annoying for all involved, but progress has still been made and the club will return to Europe next season.
From Tottenham’s 38 Premier League matches, they scored 74 goals, four more than the previous campaign, despite having Harry Kane on board.
It was a body blow to the club when Kane secured a summer transfer to Bayern Munich, not just because of what he meant to the club, but also the fact that he left days before the new season started.
Jurgen Klinsmann praised Spurs for how well they have done without Kane and how, at one point, fans were dreaming of the Premier League title because they were top of the table after ten matches.
The German legend has claimed that when the ‘exceptional’ Kane left, it was a ‘tough one to swallow’ for Postecoglou, even if he never moaned or mentioned it after the England captain left, as he told ESPN.
Harry Kane’s Tottenham transfer
“It started very, very well in the Premier League, being first and giving hope to all the Spurs fans,” said Klinsmann. “Maybe this is it. This is the season we create that big, big surprise by winning the Premier League.
“Then during the second half of the season, it went more downhill and you end up in a very respectable fifth spot. I think it’s acceptable, but obviously the expectations at Spurs over the last ten years went higher and higher. They want to see trophies. They want to see some silverware.
“Obviously, it was the year after Harry Kane. Absolutely. It’s very, very difficult. He has been so exceptional for the club, for all the goals that he scored. It was a tough one for Ange Postecoglou to swallow that he doesn’t have Harry Kane available to get him all the goals.”

Life after Harry Kane for Tottenham Hotspur
As of this moment, you could argue that Spurs have reacted better to losing Kane than the player himself.
When the 30-year-old left, some were questioning how much the Bundesliga title would mean to him when he won it.

It was in no doubt that he was going to win it! But then Bayern Munich hit the brick wall of the unbeaten and incredible Bayer Leverkusen.
And it so happened to be that Bayern ended up finishing the season trophyless for the first time since 2012, despite Kane scoring 36 league goals from 32 matches.
