» » » 'He needs to move': David Seaman urges 'fantastic' player to quit Arsenal this summer

Arsenal are looking for new signings this summer but may need to clear the decks as Mikel Arteta pushes for a Premier League title.

For the second season in a row, Arsenal finished second in the Premier League table.

Mikel Arteta’s side just haven’t been able to pip Manchester City in the race for top spot but will be hoping for third time lucky next season.

We say lucky, but it’s actually all about skill, preparation, planning and smart decisions – which Arsenal have shown over the last few years.

Arsenal will be right in the mix for the Premier League title once again next term but Arteta will be looking to make some ruthless decisions.

Striker Eddie Nketiah could be one player to leave with HITC understanding that a number of Premier League clubs are interested.

David Seaman an Aaron Ramsdale’s Arsenal future

The likes of Reiss Nelson and Emile Smith Rowe may not feel too safe at Arsenal right now and the same goes for goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale.

Ramsdale spent the 2022-23 season as Arsenal’s first-choice goalkeeper and even started last season in that role too.

However, Ramsdale then found himself benched in favour of David Raya, who was brought in from Brentford last summer.

The Spaniard turned in a superb season and his permanent move to Arsenal leaves Ramsdale staring at another season on the bench.

Ramsdale is still in the England squad at Euro 2024 but he is surely well aware that his career is stalling at Arsenal.

Former Arsenal and England goalkeeper David Seaman has now told the Daily Star that Ramsdale ‘needs to move’ this summer.

Seaman feels that Ramsdale is a ‘fantastic’ player and simply too good to be backup to Raya moving forward.

Seaman added that Ramsdale is in a ‘weird situation’ as he is a ‘great’ servant for the club but can’t afford to keep sitting on the bench.

“I’ve always said Aaron is too good to be a number two. He’s a fantastic player. He needs to play. Wherever that is, I don’t know,” said Seaman.

“It’s a weird situation. Ideally, you’d love him to stay because that would be great for the club. But he needs to move for his career. And that includes England because, if he’s not playing, he’ll keep dropping down the pecking order with them,” he added.

Just where Ramsdale could end up is unclear.

HITC understands that Newcastle United held talks with Arsenal over a potential deal to sign Ramsdale in May.

Magpies boss Eddie Howe coached Ramsdale at Bournemouth and a reunion was seemingly in mind.

However, Newcastle have since signed two goalkeepers by landing Odysseas Vlachodimos and John Ruddy.

Add in that Nick Pope will be back from injury and a deal for another goalkeeper in Ramsdale just looks unlikely.

Other Premier League clubs are bound to be keen but with just over a month until the Premier League season starts, Ramsdale’s future looks unclear.
