Manchester United have already added another attacker to their roster, but Ruben Amorim is still looking for more reinforcements up front.

Matheus Cunha was recently unveiled in a Manchester United shirt for the first time, following his transfer from Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Despite the excitement surrounding the Brazilian’s arrival, his expected role as a number 10 means United still need a more traditional centre-forward.

United are likely to move for a new centre-forward this summer, but Liam Delap has chosen to join Chelsea, turning down a move to Old Trafford in the process.

Viktor Gyokeres remains on United’s radar as Amorim looks for a potential Sporting reunion, with the two having worked well together in Lisbon.

Gyokeres is angry with Sporting over their high price tag demands, which is leading to a tense situation as talks progress.

As negotiations become complex, United are also exploring other strikers on the market, and the Bundesliga could become an area of focus for Ineos.

One name that has surfaced again is Hugo Ekitike, who was previously linked with the Red Devils before this summer’s window opened.

According to Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg, United have increased their efforts to secure Ekitike’s signature.

The journalist reports that United have contacted Eintracht Frankfurt within the last 48 hours regarding the French striker.

In that recent contact, United are said to have “gathered all relevant information” about Ekitike as they consider making a formal move.

While Chelsea and Liverpool remain interested, it appears United are now stepping up their pursuit.

Ekitike comes off a strong season with 15 goals and eight assists for Eintracht, showcasing his potential as one of Europe’s rising stars.

Known for his height, pace, and technique, Ekitike has drawn comparisons to Alexander Isak and was even labelled “exceptional” by Eintracht manager Dino Toppmoller in an interview with the Bundesliga’s official site.

Ekitike expressed his childhood support for Manchester United during an April 2024 interview on Eintracht TV, suggesting a move to Old Trafford could be particularly appealing.

While the club may not be as dominant today as in his youth, a switch to United would likely still hold significant attraction for the 22-year-old forward.

As talks of Ekitike heat up, it’s worth noting how the timing of these links might factor into broader transfer dynamics, especially concerning Gyokeres.

Arsenal have reportedly made their move for Gyokeres, but United are likely to tread carefully and avoid jumping into a bidding war just yet.

Arsenal’s primary focus is believed to be Benjamin Sesko, which raises the possibility that reports of a Gunners bid could be designed to prompt action from United.

Similarly, United’s reported interest in Ekitike might serve as a negotiating tactic to apply pressure on Sporting to lower their asking price for Gyokeres, reducing the risk of losing out on a significant sale.

The summer window often involves these kinds of strategic moves by clubs and agents. Given Amorim’s established connection with Gyokeres, it’s entirely plausible that the Swedish striker remains United’s top target for the central role, despite the growing chatter around Ekitike.
