The Daily Mail’s Sami Mokbel has claimed that Crystal Palace are considering bringing in Roy Hodgson to replace Patrick Vieira, after Paddy McCarthy looks likely to take over their upcoming clash against Arsenal.
The French manager was sacked by the club on Thursday, due to his side’s failure to win a single match in 2023, which frustrated chairman Steve Parish, who eventually made the big call.
Considering Roy Hodgson was the man who Patrick Vieira replaced last season, the polar opposite could yet happen after Paddy McCarthy deals with the challenge of managing Crystal Palace against the Gunners.

Considering the 75-year-old has retired from management, this would certainly come as a surprise turn of events.
But the Daily Mail journalist Sami Mokbel has indeed reported that during the imminent international break, Roy Hodgson is ‘an option’ for Crystal Palace after Paddy McCarthy takes over the team against Arsenal as a more seasoned appointment to replace Patrick Vieira.
Further details explain that the veteran is considered as a viable option due to his working relationship with the current squad and the club.
As a result, Hodgson is still ‘highly-regarded’ at Selhurst Park and ‘it’s a possibility’ that he comes out of retirement to save the Eagles from potentially getting relegated.

Simply put, there are a number of more superior options in today’s game for Crystal Palace to replace Patrick Vieira and subsequently Paddy McCarthy with than bringing back Roy Hodgson.
One of the South London side’s biggest flaws point to how they have been unable to get the best out of their bright attacking talent in Michael Olise, Eberechi Eze and of course, Wilfried Zaha.
To bring in the defensive-minded veteran, whose formula is no secret at this point would be a dangerous move to say the least.
