Aston Villa are now facing a decision over the immediate future of Aaron Ramsey with some Championship clubs showing fresh interest in the midfielder for a loan transfer.
That is according to Birmingham Live, which reports that second-tier sides are considering a move to sign Ramsey on loan. He enjoyed a productive season in the Championship through the 2022/23 campaign. The 20-year-old enjoyed spells at Norwich City then Middlesbrough.
Dean Smith initially coaxed Ramsey away from Aston Villa last August whilst in charge of the Canaries. But the Villans product returned to Bodymoor Heath in January before agreeing to a deadline day move to Middlesbrough. He proved to be a hit with both teams whenever fit.
Aaron Ramsey impressed during an injury-hit season out on loan
Ramsey suffered a knee injury while on loan with Norwich that needed surgery. He also later sustained an ankle injury in April after joining Middlesbrough for the rest of the season. The ankle problem would stop Ramsey from playing for Boro in the Championship play-offs, too.
His issues have also continued this summer. Ian Foster had Ramsey in England’s Under-20 squad for the U20 World Cup. But the coach had to bring Xavier Simmons into his plans after Ramsey withdrew. It was the last thing the midfielder wanted after his injury issues in 22/23.
Still, Ramsey impressed with Norwich and Middlesbrough when the Aston Villa loanee could stay fit. He ended the campaign with a combined eight goals and four assists from 29 games in the Championship. The Birmingham-born prospect started 21 of his potential 30 matches.

Middlesbrough saw the best of Ramsey in front of the goal after striking a loan transfer with Aston Villa. He found the net five times and laid on one assist under Michael Carrick to help Boro get into the play-offs. Ramsey had scored three and assisted three goals with Norwich.
Carrick adored what Ramsey brought to the Riverside, as well. The Middlesbrough manager noted in March how the midfielder was ‘brilliant’ in his team. Now, Championship clubs are showing fresh interest in targeting a loan transfer from Aston Villa for Ramsey this summer.
