Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with Ko Itakura.

According to Sky Germany, Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Ko Itakura from Borussia Monchengladbach in the summer transfer window.

The report has claimed that Napoli are also keen on the 26-year-old Japan international central defender.

Itakura could reportedly leave the German club this summer.

Could Tottenham Hotspur sign Ko Itakura from Borussia Monchengladbach?

In our opinion, Tottenham Hotspur could be able to sign Ko Itakura from Borussia Monchengladbach in the summer transfer window.

Monchengladbach do tend to sell their best players, and a decent offer from Spurs could be too good to turn down for the German club.

Moreover, Itakura himself could be tempted to move to Spurs, who are one of the biggest clubs in the world and regularly aim to finish in the top four of the Premier League table.

The Japan international was on the books of Manchester City from 2019 until 2022 before the Premier League club sold him to Monchengladbach in the summer of 2022 for €5 million (£4.5 million), as reported by The Manchester Evening News at the time.

The 26-year-old had loan spells at FC Groningen and Schalke during his time at City.

It was during his time at FC Groningen that former Brighton and Hove Albion and NAC Breda defender noted that Itakura “is incredibly fast” and “can head well” (Fcgfans.nl, March 9, 2018).
