According to reports, the creator of the YouTube channel, 8 Passengers, and the founder of the parent counseling service ConneXions, Jodi Hildebrandt, have been arrested for two counts of aggravated child abuse. Ruby and Franke rose to fame through their vlogs navigating their day-to-day life with six children. However, their popular channel was deleted when fans started raising concerns about the treatment of their children amid growing allegations.

Kevin Franke focuses on ‘fatherly care’ after his wife’s arrest

Kevin and his wife Ruby launched the YouTube channel, 8 Passengers, in 2015. Kevin reportedly worked as an assistant professor of civil engineering at Brigham Young University. The exact details of his professional career are unclear.

Following Ruby’s arrest, Kevin’s lawyer claimed her husband was solely focused on taking care of their children. His attorney, Randy S. Kester, told Page Six that his client’s “urgent focus is simply to keep his children together under his fatherly care.”

Ruby and Kevin share Shari, Chad, Abby, Julie, Russell, and Eve. Kevin hasn’t addressed or commented on his wife’s arrest at the time of writing.

The couple’s deleted channel was extremely popular among their followers, having amassed over 2.3 million subscribers before the child abuse allegations surfaced.

The duo reportedly shared the responsibility of home-schooling their children together and are said to be members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

Ruby Franke arrested on two counts of aggravated child abuse

The Utah mother and her business partner were reportedly arrested on Wednesday after authorities found a “malnourished minor with open wounds and duct tape on their extremities.”

Ruby and Franke came under fire for their extreme parenting methods sometime in 2020, after which they laid low and posted fewer videos to their channel.

The family was reportedly under investigation for a child abuse scandal after a video of their son sleeping on the floor for months in a row surfaced. The 15-year-old was allegedly punished for pulling a prank on his younger brother.

Ruby is said to have become a part of Jodi’s establishment after pulling the plug on vlogging in the wake of the child abuse investigation.

She ended up becoming a member of the Business Team division at ConneXions, an organization described as “cult-like” by the followers of 8 Passengers.

Eldest daughter breaks her silence after the Utah mom’s arrest

Ruby and Kevin’s eldest daughter, Shari, took to Instagram following her mom’s arrest to break her silence.

In a series of stories posted to her Instagram account, Shari said she was “glad justice is being served” as the police and CPS have decided to take action after years of “trying.”

She said the kids are “safe” and requested their privacy as an investigation is underway.

In one of the stories, Shari urged her following to share any content posing problematic behavior across 8 Passengers and ConneXion’s channels.

Social media users got to know about the Franke family when Ruby and Kevin Franke started their YouTube channel called 8 Passengers. The content was focused on their daily lives and the husband and wife took care of their six children. However, recently, concerns about the family grew as viewers noticed some strange behavior.

What happened to Ruby Franke?

On August 31, it was confirmed that Ruby was arrested under suspicion of two counts of aggravated child abuse. Her business partner, Jodi Hildebrandt was also arrested on the same charges.

As per reports, the Santa Clara-Ivins Public Safety Department revealed that on Thursday they were notified about a distressed child asking for help from a neighbor. The juvenile was said to be “emaciated and malnourished, with open wounds and duct tape around the extremities.”

The evidence led officers to a nearby home where another juvenile in a similar condition was found and taken to the hospital. The Department of Child and Family Services also took four minors after a search was done of the home. Ruby and Jodi were arrested in connection to the incident. They are still in custody.

Shari Franke opens up about ‘justice being served’

Shari, who is the oldest daughter of Ruby and Kevin Franke, broke her silence on Instagram and spoke about ‘justice being served.’

Sharing a picture of a police vehicle, Shari wrote “Finally.” In another post, she wrote: “Today has been a big day. Me and my family are so happy that justice is being served. We’ve been trying to tell the police and CPS for years about this, and so glad they finally decided to step up.”

She continued: “Kids are safe, but there’s a long road ahead. Please keep them in your prayers and also respect their privacy.” She also requested her followers to send any videos they might have of problematic behavior noticed in any of the 8 Passengers or ConneXions’ content.

Ruby Franke has faced backlash before

In the past, Ruby had landed herself in trouble when she posted a video stating she would not take lunch for her 6-year-old after the child forgot to pick it up.

This video was further shared on other social media platforms such as TikTok and Twitter with fans expressing their anger towards Ruby. However, she never publicly addressed this.

A TikTok creator recently explained the upcoming emergency alert that will reportedly sound on all phones and technology devices in October. HITC delves into the meaning of the alarm along with what United States citizens should expect from the test and more.

What is happening on October 4, 2023?

United States citizens with technology devices will have to abide by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) on October 4th 2023 as all cell phones, televisions, and radios will reportedly be going through a nationwide test.

The test is due to take place at 2:20 p.m. Eastern Time on Wednesday, October 4th 2023 and noises from your electronic device may be loud for a duration of 30 minutes.

The test itself is to ensure that in case of a national disaster, every electronic device will be notified within a 10-minute period. 

FEMA will be assessing the nationwide Emergency Alert System as well as Wireless Emergency Alerts. 

According to Desterto reports, the concept originated in 1951 when the Control of Electromagnetic Radiation created an alert system for radios to warn Americans about a possible Soviet Union attack.

Although the mission proved to be unsuccessful at the time, as missiles were able to intercept the radio waves before warnings could be sent, the Emergency Alert System was established afterward. This therefore led to the upcoming nationwide test

During the nationwide emergency alert system test, anyone who is vulnerable and hiding a cell phone in case they need help (ie domestic abuse victims) are being advised to make sure the phone is turned off at that time.

Viral TikToker explains emergency phone alert

A TikTok creator named @noahglenncarter shared a video explaining the emergency alert, warning his followers and claiming that phones will go “berserk” on October 4th.

Having now reached over 3.8 million views, more than 570k likes, and a comment section full of hysteria – the viral TikTok seems to have panicked a lot of technology device users.

Along with genuine concerns about the emergency alert, many people are worried that there will be no form of entertainment available during the time of the test.

One user suggested that they will go into a crisis:

“Bro, I’m gonna go into a little crisis if I don’t have my phone. There’s not gonna be anything for entertainment.”

What will the alarm sound like?

The TikTok creator explained that the sound will supposedly be accompanied by a jarring electric tone as well as a voice stating that the alert is only a test.

Dexerto states that sources have revealed that a voice may also be heard from devices saying something along the lines of the following statement:

“This is a nationwide test of the Emergency Alert System, issued by the Federal Emergency Management Agency, covering the United States from 14:20 to 14:50 hours ET. This is only a test. No action is required by the public.”

Though the Emergency Alert System test is set to occur for 30 minutes, electronic devices will be able to be used accordingly afterward at 2:50 p.m. ET.

Turning your cell phone, TV, or radio off is advised for individuals who may be triggered by loud noises.

Concerns regarding hurricane Idalia continue even after being reduced to Category 1 strength by Wednesday afternoon, but what stores and restaurants are closed due to the harsh weather?

Fears about hurricane Idalia grew on Tuesday night after being categorized as a Category 4 storm in Florida. However, by Wednesday morning, things settled down and it was announced that it was now of Category 1 strength. While people in Florida deal with the aftermath of strong winds, tensions grow in Georgia as it was confirmed the hurricane has crossed into the state.

Stores and restaurants that are closed due to hurricane Idalia

While some stores will be closed due to the hurricane, others have adjusted their time slots to ensure they can meet the customers’ demand.

Five locations of Waffle House are closed. These are stores that are located at Live Oak, Madison, Lake City, and two stores in the St. Petersburg area. Legoland Florida also closed its water park as fears about the hurricane grow. Apple too has closed its stores in Florida to ensure everyone is safe.

Meanwhile, some Starbucks locations are shut down as well. We would urge people to check the location finder to ensure the nearest one to you is functioning. Apart from this, Winn-Dixie has also closed some of its outlets.

Hurricane Idalia has now entered Georgia

The National Hurricane Center (NHC) confirmed that hurricane Idalia had entered Georgia after causing catastrophe in Florida. NHC noted: “Catastrophic storm surge occurring along the coast of the Florida Big Bend and damaging winds spreading inland over northern Florida.”

More than 400,000 Florida and Georgia buildings have lost power due to the harsh weather. On Tuesday, U.S. President Joe Biden stated that he had spoken to Gov. Ron DeSantis and provided him with “everything that he possibly needs,” as per reports.

He further noted that the federal teams were on the ground and working with local officers to ensure that the public was safe. I let each governor I spoke with know if there’s anything the states need right now, I’m ready to mobilize that support of what they need,” he said.

The dropped points at home to Fulham didn’t help matters, although, making a mistake after the first minute and gifting them a goal isn’t exactly making life easier – there were even suggestions that two players wanted Havertz dropped.

Either way, Nketiah, who scored on the opening day of the new Premier League season, was dropped for the weekend fixture but came on to score Arsenal’s second goal against Fulham.

Ferdinand shared his thoughts on Arsenal fans overreacting to situations, including certain players and their manager, Mikel Arteta. 

“It’s mad your confidence (on thinking Arsenal will beat Man United),” said Ferdinand to an Arsenal fan. “I look at your fanbase, it’s all over the gaff. They are going nuts. 

“Havertz out, the manager doesn’t know what he is doing, he is messing about with the team too much, Partey is playing right-back, Trossard isn’t coming in and doing his job.

“Eddie Nketiah we want him out. Doing the hokey cokey. You guys are all over the place. I don’t understand it, with Havertz. I understand he hasn’t hit the ground running, a bit like Mason Mount at Manchester United.

“The way you guys are absolutely ‘get him out. He shouldn’t be here’. I am talking about your fanbase. I don’t get it. If it was 10-15 games, I could see what they are saying. It’s three games, you know. People need time to adjust.”

Disaster and safety managers have issued strict warnings to the residents of Florida counties to drop everything they are doing and seek shelter immediately as the intensifying storms could potentially claim lives. Hurricane Idalia is expected to cause major devastation only days after much of Maui Island in Hawaii was consumed by flames from wildfires.

How does the Waffle House’s index work as an indicator?

The unofficial color-coded metrics scale at the Waffle House measures the impact of Hurricanes using different indicators.

There are three signs in different colors and each of them tells the severity of the storm.

• A green sign means the restaurant is serving at its full capacity and the damage in the area is limited.
• Yellow means the restaurant is running low on power and is using a generator to serve limited orders with a low food supply.
• A Red sign means the restaurant is closed and indicates severe damage in the given region, meaning people must evacuate due to unsafe conditions.

While speaking about Waffle House’s index, FEMA Administrator Craig Fugate went as far as saying: “If you get there and the Waffle House is closed? That’s really bad. That’s where you go to work.”

Is the restaurant closing for Hurricane Idalia?

The 24/7 food chain only shuts down under extreme conditions. Reportedly, four to seven restaurants in the path of Idalia have closed their doors.

According to Njeri Boss, Waffle House’s vice president of food safety and public relations, restaurants briefly closing are in Live Oak, Madison, and St. Petersburg.

Speaking of the potential closing until the storm passes, Njeri said: “The 24-hour Waffle House, at least for that time, will be no more.”

Storms expected to make landfall on the northern Gulf coast

Hurricane Idalia is expected to intensify on Tuesday before making landfall on Wednesday morning in Florida’s northern Gulf Coast.

The powerful storm is expected to surge as high as 15 feet, ” high enough to stack a wall of seawater halfway up the second floor of an average building”, reports CNN.

Idalia is expected to become a Category 3 hurricane before reaching the Big Bend region.

Addressing the natural disaster and the devastation it can bring to parts of the state, Florida’s governor, Ron DeSantis, said in a news conference on Tuesday: “That is storm surge that, if you’re there while that hits, it’s going to be very difficult to survive.”

Fans have been waiting for I Am Legend 2 to come out ever since the movie was confirmed, but is the trailer for it out?

I Am Legend managed to become a big hit when the movie was first released in 2007. Since then, people have been waiting for Will Smith to reprise his role. Luckily, the requests from the fans were heard as it was confirmed that the movie would be making a return.

Did the trailer for I Am Legend 2 release?

No, the trailer for the movie has not been released neither do we have a first look so far. On August 28, confusion rose among fans on social media when various edits from the first part started surfacing online alleging that a new trailer for the film was released.

In reality, there have been no new updates about the film. However, it is confirmed that the production for the movie has started.

At first, there were doubts about the film turning into a reality because of the Oscar drama involving Chris Rock and Will. Luckily, that fiasco did not have any impact on the production.

In February, producer and writer Akiva Goldsman confirmed to Deadline that the production of I Am Legend 2 had started. It was further revealed that Michael B. Jordan will be joining the cast.

Jordan, and the sequel to Constantine with Keanu Reeves that Francis Lawrence is going to direct. So I’m coming out of the gate fast. We’re doing it with JJ Abrams, and Francis Keanu and I have been pretty deep in the story-breaking stage.”

When I Am Legend was first released the movie grossed $585 million worldwide. The sequel brings the same expectations.

Last of Us has been an inspiration

In the same interview, Akiva noted that The Last of Us has been an inspiration for him. He said: “I’m obsessed with The Last of Us, where we see the world just post-apocalypse but also after a 20-30-year lapse. will be especially visual in New York. I don’t know if they’ll climb up to the Empire State Building, but the possibilities are endless.”

The sequel is expected to be closer to the original novel in terms of storyline.

Peter Schmeichel says he ‘can’t remember’ James Maddison being this good at Leicester City following his strong start in Tottenham Hotspur colours.

On Saturday, James Maddison opened his account for his new club when Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham recorded a 2-0 win over Bournemouth – Real Madrid’s Jude Bellingham also shared his reaction.

“I thought of Maddison from his Leicester days a lot. I can’t remember him being this good. I never saw him play this well.

“All the headlines will go to him because he played very, very well – this man (Ange Postecoglou), in a short space of time, has changed something at Spurs.”

Maddison’s transfer is a long time coming 

There have been some who have suggested that Maddison should have been signed by Spurs three years ago, that’s after a certain Christian Eriksen left the club.

Whilst Daniel Levy wasn’t pro-active enough in making such moves, but it’s also it’s never too late.

And if truth be told, given the managers, and their type of styles, then Maddison, from an individual perspective, has arrived at the right time because Postecoglou is the perfect manager for his way of playing.
